The 5th-generation Toyota Prius debuted in late 2022 featuring superb looks, new powertrains, and an updated TNGA platform that vastly improved handling - creating the most driver-focussed Prius ever, in contrast to the efficient runabouts all its predecessors were.
That said, you wouldn't peg it to do a fast lap around a racing circuit, would you? That didn’t stop Top Gear UK from trying though, and by golly-gosh, did it look spectacular.
In a recent review, they set out on the longest Uber ride in the UK subjecting the 2024 Prius PHEV to a proper real-world test, before handing the keys to The Stig (also the Uber passenger) to thrash it around the legendary Knockhill Circuit.

To recap, the 2024 Prius is offered with 3 powertrains – depending on the market – the longstanding (140 PS) 1.8-litre hybrid, as well as two new 2.0-litre variants, a (223 PS) plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and a (193 PS) full-hybrid.
Although the UK only gets the 2.0-litre PHEV version which incorporates a 13.6 kWh battery for an electric driving range of up to 85 km. In the UK, deliveries of the 2024 Prius begin in July and will be made available in two variants starting from GBP 37,315 (~RM 225k).

Alas, as great as it is, there is little to no chance the 2024 Prius will ever make it to Malaysia, though Thailand looks set to be amongst the few ASEAN markets to get it. The 3rd-generation Toyota Prius was the last official model to be sold in Malaysia.
Given Malaysia's tax structure, which is skewed towards BEVs and in contrast, imposes high taxes on imported hybrids, which would result in lower-cost hybrids costing more than tax-exempted BEVs. Malaysia ended its tax exemption for imported hybrids on 31-December 2013 and in 2022, waived import, excise, and road tax for battery EVs (BEVs).
