Stellantis Malaysia to re-launch Jeep and Alfa Romeo

The Stellantis Malaysia National Sales Company (Stellantis Malaysia) has officially started operations as of 1-March 2024.
Stellantis Malaysia will be the Stellantis Group’s official entity directing and managing marketing, sales, distribution and aftersales of Peugeot vehicles in Malaysia, and potentially other Stellantis brands (Citroen, Jeep, and Alfa Romeo?) in the future.
Jamie Francis Morais, Managing Director of Stellantis Malaysia said, “Stellantis Malaysia is an exciting start and new business chapter for us here in Malaysia. Our priorities are four-pronged - accelerating market growth, expanding product portfolio, creating new dealership opportunities nationwide, and subsequently providing improved customer experience. This includes expanding our dealer network nationwide and building a stronger presence in East Malaysia.”
Crucially, Stellantis Malaysia now succeeds Bermaz Auto, the former distributor of the Peugeot brand in Malaysia.
“We thank Bermaz Auto for their efforts as the custodians of the PEUGEOT brand in Malaysia since December 2020. With the establishment of Stellantis Malaysia, we are committed to continuing the growth of PEUGEOT and the prospects of bringing in a wider range of vehicles from other brands under the Stellantis portfolio whilst focusing on enhancing the lives of our customers through our products and services,” added Morais.
A subtle hint of what's to come from Stellantis Malaysia?
During its recent Investor Day held at its plant in Gurun, Kedah, Stellantis Malaysia unveiled a future vehicle line-up that includes notable models such as the all-new Peugeot 408 set for a Q2 2024 launch, and the locally-assembled (CKD) Peugeot Landtrek.
Additionally, vehicles from other Stellantis brands like the Citroën C3 Aircross, Alfa Romeo Tonale MHEV, and Jeep Wrangler were showcased.
The fact that a Jeep Wrangler and an Alfa Romeo Tonale were included in the company’s photo taken at their Gurun plant, strongly suggests at their impending arrival in Malaysia.
Jeep was last represented in 2020 by parallel importer TAHB Automotive. Alfa Romeo exited the market in the mid-2000s, when Sime Darby Auto Italia was shut down.
