Over in Seoul, Hyundai has launched the all-new Hyundai Staria, a spacious MPV with a price range of 27 million won (RM 99,547) to 41 million won (RM 151,165), depending on options.
Aptly named the Staria, Hyundai’s new MPV evokes the streamlined form of a spaceship, defined by a single stroke running from the front to the rear of the vehicle.
According to Hyundai, this is inspired by the curve of light that illuminates the Earth’s horizon at sunrise when viewed from space.
The Hyundai Staria is 1,990 mm in height, 5,253 mm in length, and 1,997 mm wide, with a wheelbase of 3,273 mm - bigger than the Toyota Vellfire in all dimensions.
The Staria is available in 2 variants – Staria and Staria Premium. As a passenger vehicle, the Staria is available in a 7-,9-, or 11-seat configuration.
Premium Relaxation Seats in the 7-seater Staria.
The 7-seat Premium model is equipped with Premium Relaxation Seats in the second row that recline electronically and also have sliding capabilities for easy reach or to maximize cargo space.
180° swivelling seats in the 9-seater Staria
The 9-seat Premium model’s individual seats in the second row can swivel 180 degrees to face passengers in the third row. This makes Staria Premium ideal for corporate vehicles or mobile offices as passengers can turn their seats around and conduct meetings face to face.
Plenty of space for family excursions.
Additionally, the Staria’s generous legroom is among the best in its segment and can be converted into expansive additional cargo space when all seats are pushed together - made possible by the versatile long sliding seat function.
11-seater Staria
The cruise ship-inspired interior delivers an open and unique atmosphere through its innovative design architecture.
As a cargo vehicle, the 2-seat and 3-seat configuration offer a maximum cargo space of almost 5,000 litres.
Powertrain
For the time being, there are 2 engine options to choose from, either a 2.2-litre VGT diesel engine (177 PS/431 Nm) or a 3.5-litre G6DIII MPI engine (272 PS/331 Nm).
Eco-friendly variants of the Staria are scheduled to be added in the upcoming years, but it hasn't been confirmed if they will be partially or fully electrified.
The diesel engine is mated to either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic transmission, while the gasoline engine is only mated to an 8-speed automatic box.
Safety features of the Staria include:
Forward Collision Avoidance Assist (FCA)
Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA).
Wireless Module Seat Belt Reminder (WM-SBR)
Safe Exit Assist (SEA)
Rear Occupant Alert (ROA)
Senior Vice President and Head of Global Hyundai Design, SangYup Lee said “The Hyundai Staria is not just reinterpreting spatiality, but also reimagining time spent in transit for the future.
Designing for mobility isn’t about vehicle design. It’s about designing to accommodate a variety of lifestyles,”
“The Hyundai Staria’s interior space and functionalities aim to transform how people experience in-car travel, optimizing journeys by making the most of time in transit.”
