The Suzuki Swift Sport is a pocket rocket and although the manual transmission which isnβt offered in Malaysia is the preferred choice to enjoy the hot hatchβs capabilities, there is a shocking update over in Japan.
The latest update for the 6-year-old hot hatch sees the 6-speed manual transmission being dropped from the Swift Sport line-up in Japan. That means the 6-speed automatic transmission is the sole gearbox offered in the Land of the Rising Sun.
Not only that but prices for the Swift Sport have also seen changes with the sole variant priced at JPY 2,236,300 (~RM 70.5k), an increase of JPY 147,400 (~RM 4.6k).
The price increase is due to the rising material and logistics costs which also affected the prices of the Wagon R kei car.
Being a minor update, the Z33S Swift Sportβs powerplant remains unchanged which is a turbocharged 1.4-litre BoosterJet 4-cylinder engine that makes 140 PS and 230 Nm.
Though fans of the manual transmission Swift Sport might be crying out #SaveTheManuals, the Swift Sport is available officially by Naza Eastern Motors and only offers a single 6AT variant which is priced from RM 145,900.
