Volvo's take on an electric Alphard; EV MPV to launch later this year, based on Geely's SEA platform

The battery-electric (BEV) MPV space is one of China’s fastest growing segments, Volvo’s newest entrant in the competition is bound to spice things up a bit as evidenced in this spot by a Weibo user in China.
The family genealogy between this as-yet-unnamed Volvo EV MPV is clear; the headlights are reminiscent to the EX30/EX90’s in shape and details. Going further up the family tree, notice the general body shape and lines around the window are similar to the Zeekr 009, produced by Geely.

Both share the same Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) modular EV platform, which also means their dimensions should remain pretty close.
In that, this upcoming MPV is bound to be Volvo’s largest passenger car yet: its platform-mate measures 5,209 mm long, 2,024 mm wide, and 1,858 tall, sitting on a 3,205 mm wheelbase, so this Volvo won’t be too different; plenty of space for 7 passengers.

Powertrain details are not mentioned just yet, but if it’s anything similar to the 009 then there should be at least two battery sizes to pick from. The 009 offers two ternary lithium battery options: a 116 kWh pack for 702 km range, and a 140 kWh unit for 822 km range – both based on the CLTC standard.

The all-wheel drive (AWD) only Zeeker 009 has two electric motors, producing up to 544 PS and 686 Nm, allowing the behemoth to settle the 0-100 km/h sprint in a blistering 4.5 seconds.

This Volvo EV MPV is bound to make its debut in the later part of this year, according to an earlier report by Sina. Rivals include the Maxus Mifa 9, which is coming to Malaysia.
