At long last, the all-new Audi Q6 e-tron has made its debut. The third e-Tron BEV SUV model will now bridge the gap between the Q4 and Q8 e-tron models as well as introduce a new range of technologies that will feature in upcoming models.
The Q6 e-Tron notably becomes the first model to be underpinned by the new Audi-Porsche co-developed Premium Platform Electric (PPE), which also features in the upcoming Porsche Macan, and the new E3 1.2 βEnd-to-Endβ electronic vehicle control architecture.
However, for a more concise and interesting introduction, here's Captain America, Chris Evans to take you through the new Q6 e-tron in the video below.
Two AWD variants will be available at the outset, the Q6 e-tron and SQ6 e-tron. The Q6 e-tron delivers 387 PS and the more powerful SQ6 e-tron delivers a maximum of 517 PS.
The Q6 dispatches the 0-100 km/h sprint in 5.9 seconds, whereas the SQ6 requires only 4.3 seconds. The top speed is rated at 210 km/h for the Q6 and 230 km/h for the SQ6.
Both models utilize a new 100 kWh lithium-ion battery that is claimed to offer a maximum driving range of 625 km. Other Q6 variants β particularly rear-wheel driven and designed for more range - will also be introduced later on.
The Audi Q6 e-tron features 800 Volt electrical architecture, which supports a maximum charging capacity of 270 kW, but unlike previous Audi BEVs, it introduces bank charging, which splits the battery into 2 for parallel charging of up to 135 kW at a 400 Volt charger. AC charging reaches up to 11 kW at home chargers.
The Q6 e-tron also introduces Audiβs E3 1.2 electronic architecture, which utilizes a domain computer structure with five high-performance computers which control all vehicle functions - from infotainment and driving functions through to semi-automated driving in the future.
The Q6 measures 4,771mm in length, 1,993 mm in width, and 1,648 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,899 mm β which puts it close to rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV.
On the inside, the Audi Q6 e-tron features an 11.9-inch Audi virtual cockpit and a 14.5-inch MMI touch display, along with a 10.9-inch MMI front passenger display. Through the third screen, the passenger can watch content, access navigation, or even find a charging station without distracting the driver thanks to Active Privacy Mode.
The Q6 and SQ6 e-tron also become the first BEV model to be produced at Audiβs Ingolstadt plant in Germany; order taking in Europe starts in March 2024 with a price tag of EUR 74,700 (~RM 384k) for the Q6 and EUR 93,800 (~RM 482k) for the SQ6, first deliveries are scheduled to start in Q3 2024.
Closer to home, the Audi Q6 e-tron is pegged to launch in Malaysia as well. According to Audi Malaysia's earlier statements, we can expect the new model here before end-2024.
