[WapCar] The steering wheel shift is to operate the gearbox through the buttons or paddles on the steering wheel without leaving the steering wheel with both hands. An automatic transmission car equipped with a steering wheel shift must be a manual transmission.
As a quick way to shift gears, steering wheel shifting can greatly improve driving operability. The paddle shifter is generally located behind the steering wheel, when manipulating the paddle shifter, the driver generally only needs to push the gear into D, S or manual mode. Using the paddle shifter, the driver can complete the up-down gear operation without leaving the steering wheel with both hands. Because the paddle shifter is located on the back side of the steering wheel, it is very convenient and efficient to operate. This device is used in many rally races, field races and even F1 events.
There are two types of paddle shifting: fixed and follow-up
The fixed paddle shifting and the instrument panel remain stationary, that is, during the steering process, the steering wheel is rotating while the paddle shifting is still.
The follow-up paddle shift and the steering wheel remain stationary, that is, during the steering process, the paddle shift and the steering wheel rotate at the same time.
