With its arrival here, this marks four out of four new models we know Honda Malaysia is set to introduce here this year: the WR-V's launch is happening very soon, the City facelift inevitably after that, and the all-new CR-V will follow suit sometime later this year.

Back to the FL5 Type R. Honda's newest in a long line of hallowed greats has quickly carved itself into the record books – if nothing more than racking up mind-blowing order figures and wait times worldwide.

In Japan, there's a four-year wait; Australian customers yet to snag one have to wait till 2024 to be able to place an order. The Philippines and Thailand have theirs in limited numbers. Orders globally have surged past 20,000 units.

Just how many units will be extended to Malaysian buyers are still unknown, and with that its price tag, though estimates for it starting at RM 350k wouldn't be too far off a ballpark.

Likewise there's no confirmed specs for us at the time of writing as well, as different markets get between 320 to 330 PS off its K20C 2.0-litre VTEC turbo engine, depending on fuel quality and emission standards. The driveline remains traditionally front-wheel drive, with a 6-speed manual transmission.
