Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has launched the fully-imported from Korea (CBU) 2021 Hyundai Kona 1.6 Turbo and N Line, priced at RM 146,888 and RM 156,888 respectively (OTR without insurance, with SST discount).
Both variants are powered by a 1.6-litre, turbocharged four-cylinder mill (Smartstream G1.6 T-GDi) that makes 198 PS and 265 Nm, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The Kona 1.6 Turbo shares the same exterior and interior design as the Kona 2.0 Active variant, except for a roof rack and two-tone body colour which are exclusive to the turbocharged variants.
The Kona N Line features a sportier exterior kit. Its front is unified with the body colour treatment of the wheel arch claddings. Instead of the skid plate, the N Line version features a characteristic N-style aerodynamic lip with low-lying corner fins.
The air intakes are also larger and the rear bumper a distinctive diffuser element. Wheels are 18-inch items.
Inside, the Kona N Line features a dedicated colour package in one-tone black leather combined with suede and features ventilated and heated seats for the driver and front passengers. The red stitching, metal pedals, and N logo on the gear shift, steering wheel, and seats complete the sporty look.
Both the Kona variants feature the new layout design similar to the facelifted Kona 2.0, which includes a new console area, 10.25-inch digital cluster in addition to the 8-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
As an alternative to the dark interior, the Kona 1.6 Turbo is also available with a light beige interior trim.
The turbocharged Kona variants are equipped with the Hyundai Smart Sense ADAS suite which includes:
- Forward Collision Avoidance Assist (AEB)
- Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance Assist (BSM)
- Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCTA)
- Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Lane Following Assist (LFA)
- Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go (ACC)
- Driver Attention Warning (DAW) with Leading Vehicle Departure Alert (LVDA)
- Rear Occupant Alert (ROA), Safe Exit Warning (SEW)
- High Beam Assist (HBA)
The 2021 Hyundai Kona comes with a five-year or 300,000km (whichever comes first) warranty and a 3-year or 50,000km (whichever comes first) free maintenance service. Interested parties may place their bookings online via Hyundai’s new online shopping platform.
