From equivalent to RM 208k, Thai prices for 2023 Honda Accord confirmed; gap with CR-V's prices tightens

The all-new 2023 Honda Accord has finally gotten its confirmed price list in Thailand following its preview earlier, entering a two-fold battle which only has it facing off against the Toyota Camry range.

Three variants of the hybrid-only Accord will go on sale in Thailand, with prices as follows:

  • Accord e:HEV E: THB 1,599,000 (~RM 208k)
  • Accord e:HEV EL: THB 1,669,000 (~RM 217k)
  • Accord e:HEV RS: THB 1,799,000 (~RM 234k)

These prices are slightly more competitive to what its sole rival, the Camry, goes for. The Toyota is priced from THB 1,475,000 (~RM 192k) at its base 2.5 Sport to THB 1,809,000 (~RM 235k) at its highest 2.5 Hybrid Premium Luxury.

The Thai-spec Accord comes with a 2.0-litre petrol engine (147 PS/182 Nm) mated to dual electric motors (184 PS/335 Nm). Combined system output of the e:HEV system is 207 PS with a claimed fuel consumption of 25 km/l.

Honda Sensing is standard fare, with higher-end variants gaining niceties like Bose audio.

Price comparison against CR-V

In a roundabout sort of way, this also proves another point against how the 6th gen, all-new 2023 Honda CR-V's prices has crept up in in recent times. Thailand's best-selling C-SUV ranges from THB 1,419,000 to THB 1,729,000 (~RM 186k - RM 227k), a hefty increase from the last generation's price, with significant overlap to the Honda Accord's price.

Not much differs between the top-spec SUV and the range-topping Accord, which makes for an increasingly close competition not between segments, but also within products of the same brand.

The last-gen Accord is the last we'll have here

The very significant overlap in pricing between the CR-V and Accord also explains why Honda Malaysia has decided to discontinue the Accord by the end of this year.

While Thailand may be able to accomodate two Honda models within the same price bracket; Malaysia's much smaller, very CKD-driven and national brands-dominated market has a much, much tighter operating space, especially once you go past the RM 150,000 barrier.
