The Honda Accord entered its 11th iteration and is the nameplate’s most advanced in its nearly 50-year history. Though the outgoing 10th generation Accord has been discontinued in Japan, its story there hasn’t ended unlike its chief rival, the Toyota Camry.
Honda Japan just announced details of the 11th-generation Honda Accord which will be launched there in Spring 2024. Available only with Honda’s e:HEV hybrid system, the upcoming Japanese-spec Accord looks largely similar to the one that’s currently available in North America and China on the outside.
The e:HEV hybrid system consists of a 2.0-litre Atkinson cycle petrol unit paired with 2 electric motors. Honda Japan has yet to release the Japan-spec Accord’s output figures but over in the States, the Accord Hybrid makes a combined output of 204 PS and is paired to an e-CVT.
The American-spec Accord is also available with a turbocharged 1.5-litre VTEC engine that makes 192 PS and 260 Nm paired with a CVT automatic transmission.

But heading back to the Japanese-spec Accord, the interior has a different layout than its American counterpart. The former’s 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster cover has a more simplified design than the latter while the Japan-spec Accord uses a buttons-style shift-by-wire gear selector as opposed to the conventional gear knob in its Stateside equivalent.
The biggest change between the two Accords though lies below the central air vents. Instead of multiple traditional dials and knobs, the Japan-spec Accord only offers a single dial flanked by a row of piano-style buttons.
Called the ‘Experience Selection Dial’, this feature makes its debut in Japan on the Accord and functions as the main control hub to switch between air conditioning, audio, and lighting with a single push. This isn't the first time such a feature exists as it is offered in the Chinese-spec Accord.

Besides, the Accord also marks the Japanese debut of the Honda Sensing 360 ADAS. Aside from further improvements to the existing features of Honda Sensing including FCW and lane-change support functions, Honda also revealed that it will be supporting hands-free driving and will be added to the Accord in the future.
Prices for the Accord in Japan will only be announced in 2024 while two accessorised variants are also unveiled – Touring and Sports Line. While the all-new 11th-gen Accord was spotted in Thailand and unveiled in Indonesia, it will not be coming to Malaysia.
