Skipping Malaysia, all-new 2024 Honda Accord makes ASEAN debut in Indonesia with e:HEV RS variant

The all-new 2024 Honda Accord is the topic today, as Honda Malaysia has announced earlier today that the model that won't be coming here. No such thing over in Indonesia, as the brand has previewed the 11th-generation model in the ongoing Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), simultaneously making its ASEAN debut.
Set to take over from the outgoing model (CBU, imported from Thailand), the latest Accord is Honda's much-needed refreshed strong answer against rivals like the Toyota Camry. However, there is no indication of the launch timeline or prices for the D-segment sedan in the archipelago at point of publication.
Specs-wise, it's Honda's first-ever car to come with built-in Google integration, so besides Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, you can speak to it to get it to do things for you. Stuff like voice activation for navigation and in-car features.
Not only that, Google integration also means that owners can link it to home devices...so if you have a house that has a garage door for instance, you can 'Ok Google' to have it open.

All this is done via a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which, fittingly for Honda's 'most advanced Accord', is the largest-ever factory-fitted screen in a Honda. At least that's the case for the United States' market model.
Smartness is one thing, but when it comes to the non-negotiables like space and practicality, the Accord also has the chops to back it up. Dimensions are pretty much the same with the 10th-gen model, save for the new car being 89 mm longer (4,971 mm):

Powertrain choices for Indonesia haven't been disclosed yet, but the telltale RS variant with e:HEV plates show that it's equipped with the brand's trick two-motor hybrid system. Output for the Indonesian-market Accord aren't shared, but for reference here's how it is in the US:

Meanwhile, Sensing has also been given an update; now enabled by a new camera with a wider 90-degree field of view and wide-angle radar with a 120-degree field of view.
This wide angle improves collision prevention performance by boosting its ability to recognise attributes of objects, such as a vehicles or pedestrians, as well as white lines, road boundaries like curbs, other vehicles, pedestrians, bicyclists, motorcycles, and road signs. The wide angle also enables expanded control range for the Accord at intersections.

Blind spot information (BSI) has been expanded, now with 82 feet of radar range. Also new is Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), which is a first for Accord. Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow, and Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS) have been updated to feature more natural responses.
In Malaysia however, the model won't be entering our market, attributed to the increased preference of SUVs by customers, over traditional three-box sedans. Well that's one reason; the other is that except the Civic Type R (FL5 is on the way) and Odyssey (in very small volumes, and has since been discontinued) all other models in Honda Malaysia's line-up is locally-assembled (CKD), and the Accord's volumes no longer justify local assembly.
