In its tenth anniversary, the Porsche Macan is on the verge of an all-electric second-generation model. Pioneering the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), the second-generation 2024 Porsche Macan is developed from the ground up.
The challenge during development was harmonizing the Macan’s identity with the aerodynamic demands essential for efficiency and extended range. This balance demanded seamless collaboration between the Design department and aerodynamic testing in Porsche’s state-of-the-art wind tunnel.
Through this concerted effort, Porsche has fused its design DNA with aerodynamics geared towards enhancing the vehicle's range. This achievement incorporates a distinctive silhouette and deploys Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA) alongside innovations like an automatically extending rear spoiler and active cooling flaps on the front air intakes.
Other innovations extend to the underbody, featuring a flat and closed design reminiscent of a racing car, coupled with flexible fairings ensuring minimal air resistance during rebound. This, combined with streamlined wheels and optimized tire contours, contributes to the Macan achieving a drag coefficient of 0.25 Cd during normal cruising.
The result is a Macan that stands as one of the most aerodynamic SUVs, boasting ranges exceeding 500 km for all variants according to WLTP standards.
Powering the new Macan are electric motors drawing energy from a lithium-ion battery with a gross capacity of 100 kWh. The 800-volt architecture allows for swift charging, with a DC charging capacity of up to 270 kW. AC charging is up to 11 kW.
The all-electric Macan features a rear-focused all-wheel drive, powered by the latest generation of permanently-excited PSM motors on both front and rear axles, offering power of more than 612 PS.
There’s also the Porsche Traction Management, which manages the distribution of the more than 1,000 Nm of torque with Launch Control in the top model in almost real time, and a Porsche Active Suspension Management system.
The latter includes two-valve damper technology, air suspension, rear-axle transverse lock, and, for the first time, rear-axle steering with a steering angle of up to five degrees.
To maintain Porsche's commitment to driving dynamics, the new Macan focuses on core competencies, including steering feel and sports car-like handling. Rigorous testing has been conducted, covering over 3.5 million test kilometres on various terrains and under extreme climatic conditions.

Jörg Kerner, Vice President Product Line Macan, asserts Porsche's ethos, stating, "When we develop a new model, it’s always about the driving dynamics and precision. That’s Porsche. It’s in our DNA. But it's always about efficiency too. And design."
