Ismail Sabri: No seat restrictions in cars, viral video to be investigated for defamation

During the daily security briefing, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Dato’ Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has clarified that there are no restrictions regarding seating in cars under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).
“Time and time again I have been repeating this, when travelling in a car there is no ruling that requires one to be seated at the back while the other is in front driving. In fact, if they are from the same household, it is not necessary to wear a face mask in the car, it is not an offence.”
His address on the issue came after a viral video on social media alleges that the user was issued a summons because his wife was sitting in the front passenger seat while he was driving.
After watching the video, Ismail Sabri had immediately checked with an officer from the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) in Bukit Aman to clarify the matter and discovered that the driver was actually issued a summons for using his mobile phone while driving.
The viral video that started circulating across social media on Tuesday evening has now been labelled as a deliberate act of defaming the police and Ismail Sabri has ordered PDRM to take action on the Facebook user who uploaded the video.
