Peugeot Inception Concept previews brand's next-gen EVs - 800V, 100 kWh, 800 km

• Peugeot Inception Concept sets design direction for future EV models from 2025

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) event in Las Vegas, Peugeot unveiled its Inception Concept that sets a new design direction for the brand and previews the next generation of Peugeot electric vehicles (EV).

Peugeot calls the new design language ‘feline stance’, which will be introduced on the next Peugeot from 2025.

The Peugeot Inception Concept is designed on one of the four future Stellantis Group "BEV-by-design" platforms, specifically the STLA Large platform.

It runs on an 800V architecture with wireless induction charging capability and its 100kWh battery is claimed to achieve 800 km on a single full charge.'

Peugeot also claims an energy consumption of 12.5kWh/100 km. While charging rates were not given, Peugeot says the battery charges the equivalent of 30km of range in one minute, or 150 km in five minutes.

The Peugeot Inception Concept has two compact electric motors on each axle to give it all-wheel drive (AWD) capability. Output is 680 PS, enough to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds.

Inside, there’s a new version of the Peugeot i-Cockpit. It does away with the steering wheel in favour of a steer-by-wire ‘Hypersquare’ control where digital electric controls have replaced mechanical links.

Peugeot CEO Linda Jackson said, “Peugeot is committed to the electrification of its range. From next year, 100% of the vehicles in the range will be electrified and in the next two years, five new 100% electric models will be launched.

“Our ambition is simple: to make Peugeot the leading electric brand in Europe by 2030. This objective and ambitious vision pave the way for a radical transformation for the Brand. It is embodied today in the Peugeot Inception Concept which marks the beginning of a new era!”
