Peugeot's CEO, Linda Jackson, has reported a "healthy" order book and a strong commitment to expanding its electric vehicle (EV) offerings even amidst signs of slowing demand for cars globally, according to Automotive News Europe.
The brand is introducing a pay-as-you-go program for the Peugeot e-208 in Europe, which is among the best-selling EVs there. Jackson, in an interview with Automotive News Europe, expressed confidence in Peugeot's ability to maintain solid EV sales despite competition from Chinese manufacturers.

However, Jackson also acknowledged the impact of the ongoing European Union debate on the green transition, which has led to some confusion among potential buyers. The EU's mixed messages regarding the use of e-fuels and the timeline for phasing out combustion engines have left consumers uncertain about the direction of the industry.
As the EV market becomes increasingly competitive, European carmakers are facing pressure to produce high-quality vehicles at a lower cost. Tesla and other players have been aggressively slashing prices, intensifying the competition.
In this context, Peugeot recognizes the importance of leveraging the technologies available within the Stellantis family of brands to streamline its EV production.
Jackson emphasized the brand's commitment to sharing technology across the 14 brands, enabling individual CEOs to choose the most suitable and efficient technologies for their respective brands.
