Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has just officially launched the all-new 2023 Hyundai Tucson a week after opening the order books and giving a public preview over the weekend at PACE 2023.

Fully imported (CBU) from South Korea, the Malaysian-spec fourth-generation Tucson is available with 3 front-wheel drive (FWD) variants:

• 2.0 Lite – RM 158,888
• 1.6T Plus – RM 178,888
• 1.6T Max – RM 195,888

As stated in the list of variants, two powertrains are offered for the all-new Tucson in Malaysia. The base Lite is the sole Tucson variant to be powered by a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre Smartstream MPI engine that makes 156 PS and 192 Nm. It is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Meanwhile, the turbocharged Smartstream 1.6 TGDi unit powers the two upper variants and it ekes out 180 PS and 265 Nm. The turbo unit is mated with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) that features a push-button gear selector.

Aside from a less powerful engine, the base Tucson is equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels as opposed to 19-inch wheels on the turbocharged variants. Inside, the base Tucson is equipped with fabric seats while leather seats are offered on the higher variants.

Standard on all variants is an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a remote start function, a rear-view camera, and 4 drive modes – Eco, Normal, Sport, and Smart.

Only the top-of-the-range Max variant is offered with all the bells and whistles including ventilated front seats, a fully digital 10.25-inch driver’s display panel, dual-zone automatic A/C with rear A/C, a power tailgate, and a wireless charger.

Standard safety features across all variants of the MY-spec Tucson are 7 airbags, an electronic parking brake (EPB) with auto hold, blind-spot collision warning, and safe exit warning.

The full suite of Hyundai SmartSense ADAS is only available on the 1.6T Max variant which adds:

• Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with Stop & Go
• Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA)
• Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist – Junction (FCA-JT)
• Lane Keeping Assist (LKA)
• Lane Following Assist (LFA)
• High Beam Assist (HBA)
• Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA)

Bookings can be made at any authorised Hyundai sales outlet nationwide or online. The first 100 customers who book on or before 31 December 2023 will receive a complimentary extended warranty (5 years or 300,000 km) and a free service package (3 years or 50,000 km).
