Perodua has announced today that dealers are taking orders for the new 2022 Perodua Myvi facelift (D51A). To recap, the new Myvi will get upgraded safety features and will now be offered exclusively as an automatic transmission-only model.
The outgoing Myvi’s ASA suite of advance driving assistance (ADAS) features has since been expanded to include adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind spot assist, rear cross traffic alert, and auto high beam - all features are now grouped under the Perodua Smart Drive Assist umbrella.
Perodua says fuel efficiency has also been improved from 21.1 km/litre to 22.2 km/litre for the 1.3-litre variant, which points to the direction of a rumoured new CVT-type automatic transmission across the range.
Prices have also gone up by between RM 2.6k to RM 5.1k. More details here.
Perodua’s announcement was accompanied by only a sole teaser image showing the sides of the front bumper, of what appears to be LED daytime running lights.
We now know that the styling updates will extend to the car’s interior as well.
Seen here is an image of the new 2022 Perodua Myvi’s interior, presumably the highest specifications 1.5 AV variant (estimated at around RM 58,800).
The steering is new and similar to the one used in the Perodua Ativa. You can tell it by the rounder centre piece and buttons on the spokes.
The instrument panel also appears to be new, as the LCD centre display located between the two analogue dials seem to extend further up than the outgoing Myvi’s.
The infotainment head unit is also different. Judging from the menu layout, the unit appears to be shared with the Perodua Ativa.
There are also red accents around the air-conditioning vents.
The new Perodua Smart Drive Assist also requires a more sophisticated set of stereo cameras so the ADAS module behind the rear windscreen is also bigger, and there’s a built-in dash cam too.
