Seeking to be rejuvenated in the fight against the 2023 Toyota Vios (AC100) and 2023 Nissan Almera, the facelifted 2023 Honda City (GN-series) is on its way to its Malaysian market introduction, and here's what we know so far.
WapCar.my understands that the headline update will be the extension of Honda Sensing ADAS across all variants; a susbtantial leap from today, in which only two out of five variants (V Sensing and RS e:HEV) have it.
In the model currently sold, the Sensing suite is a 7-feature affair, coming with these functions:
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
Forward Collision Warning (FCW)
Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS)
Road Departure Mitigation (RDM)
Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
Auto High Beam (AHB)
Note, however, that the extent of the Sensing update for us hasn't been disclosed just yet. It may now come with Low-Speed Follow (LSF), though this is unlikely given the cost constraints. Nonetheless, to have Sensing as standard is already a good point.
That, plus a customary visual nip-and-tuck (as it is sold in India) will see the model receive reshaped front and rear bumpers, and a set of new wheels too.
At point of publication, a launch date for the 2023 Honda City facelift is yet to be announced. It's also one of four new models the company is introducing here this year, the others being the Honda WR-V (open for booking and preview already), all-new 2023 Honda CR-V, and 2023 Honda Civic Type R (FL5).
Prices of the 2023 Honda City in Malaysia
As it is sold today, the outgoing, pre-facelift Honda City is priced as below:
1.5 S: RM 77,600
1.5 E: RM 85,600
1.5 V: RM 90,600
1.5 V Sensing: RM 94,600
1.5 RS e:HEV: RM 108,800
However, note that the inclusion of Honda Sensing as standard in the City facelift means a significant bump in price is expected. Price concious buyers might want to look at the outgoing, pre-facelift City, as Honda Malaysia's 'Jun Pasti Cun' campaign is giving rebates of RM 3,000 for the City sedan, with the promo valid all through this month (1- to 30-June 2023).
Other models in the rewards campaign include the Accord, City Hatchback, and CR-V.
