From being a driver-focused pocket rocket to the pick for the backseat buyer, it's come full circle. An all-new generation is finally here. Honda Odyssey 2008 seems to have played it safe, not straying too far from what made the fourth generation a roaring success. Let's dive deeper: Honda Odyssey 2008 sticks to the tried-and-tested formula. We reckon Honda should've used this opportunity to set a new benchmark in this segment. Hard, scratchy plastics feel out of place. Better plastic quality or even soft-touch materials would've helped the Honda Odyssey 2008 deliver on a richer cabin experience.
Honda Odyssey 2008 Review
The third generation of the Odyssey was introduced in 2005 and it used big engineering improvements in terms of materials and body engineering. Three years later the MPV was improved. For the 2008 model, the Odyssey received a mild update. The mid-life cycle refresh was needed since the car-market started to collapse due to the world economic crisis. To keep its customers closer, the car was better equipped than the non-facelifted version. From the outside, there were minor changes to the headlights and the grille. In the back, a new set of taillights was introduced, to enhance both the safety and the overall image of the car. The Odyssey was offered with power sliding doors and power tailgate on the options list. The biggest changes were inside the cabin. A new instrument cluster and a slightly different dashboard design were introduced. For all trim levels, there was a new AUX-in jack fitted as standard. While on the non-facelifted version the back-up camera was available only if the car was fitted with a navigation system, after the facelift the display for that was integrated into the rear-view mirror. For the drivetrain, the Odyssey kept the V6 engine but enhanced. It now was available with cylinder deactivation for 2 and 3 cylinders instead of 3 as before. The transmission remained the same, with 5-speed.

Back in June, Honda announced that its flagship MPV, the Honda Odyssey will be discontinued in Japan in December 2021. This marks the end of the once popular and revolutionary minivan and many Honda dealers in Japan weren’t happy with this news. It appears that the current-generation Honda Odyssey could be destined for a second facelift, as spy photos of what appears to be the new model have surfaced. According to sources, the new Odyssey that was spotted in Japan could feature a revised front-end with a sportier design. The camouflage on the rear-end also hint that the MPV will receive some updates there.
