Hiding under the dash it seems, should be easy enough to get at by removing the lower dash trim. Can I ask what you're planning to do with it? Because once you remove it your car will not work at all.
I like the CVT for my wife, with the way she drives around the city, rather insecure as to whether she is accelerating or not. BUT: I do not like the Toyota or Nissan CVTs, as they seem to have programing that gives them a rubber band feel instead of direct acceleration. I have a Jeep Compass and Mitsubishi Outlander with excellent CVTs, and the Honda I test drove was also very good. For my mountain driving, big engine Grand Cherokee with towing through the mountains, my automatic transmission is better. CVT’s are for lower torque.
I’ll give you some information and allow you to make a decision for yourself. Mitsubishi currently has ,only 4 different cars, in its lineup. -Lancer (also Sportback and Evo) -Outlander (and Sport) -Mirage -I-Miev Typically, entry level brands have at least 6 or 7. Mitsubishi closed their U.S. production factory last year due to a decline in sales in North America. Read more here: ,Mitsubishi to close U.S. auto plant after failing to find buyer Their vehicles are cheap. The Mitsubishi Outlander is a 7-seater SUV, costing only $22,000. Typically an SUV with a seating capacity of 7 would cost upwards of $25,000. The Mirage costs only $12,900 brand new. In their attempt to stay relevant, they are pricing their vehicles very competitively, but this comes at a cost. The build quality is very low. To test this for yourself, just find any new Mitsubishi car, put your hand on the fender, and lean into it. It will literally bend inwards. Is that what you want keeping you and your family safe? Try the same test on any other new car, and you will find it stays ridged. When I think of Mitsubishi, I think of a company taking its last breaths before it drowns in a sea of nothingness. It has pulled all production out of the U.S., has a very minimal number of vehicles, and is using cheap materials to lower their prices. All this adds up to a very bleak future for the Japanese manufacturer.
In New Zealand, the ambulance service is trialling the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV as a rapid response vehicle with success. I have one myself and love it! Being a hybrid means it can respond even when the battery is flat, of course. But they are finding the running cost to be much lower overall than an equivalent petrol only vehicle. Ambulances remain diesel powered for good reason, as has been pointed out.
When seeking true value, the ,Outlander, tends to be priced on the lower end of the SUV spectrum, which means ,purchasing used will, most likely offer up a lower price than other SUV competitors. For buyers seeking that lower price, fuel economy, and safety, the ,Outlander, is a great fit. I think the car ,will, make ,to, at least 250000 ,miles,. The only thing You have ,to, replace aside from maintainence (Brakes, Tires) the radiator So It’s better to go with the 7 year one
I have many customers who wear out their disc pads within 19,000 miles. Most of the time they don’t down shift to a lower gear when going down a long stretch of down hill grade. One of my customer lived about a block from my house and when he drives down hill…3 miles with a 6% to 8% grade, he leaves it in”drive” and steps on the brakes all the way down to the freeway merge. I drive conservatively and always use a lower gear to reduce the wear on my brakes. I get over 100,000 miles on my Honda Accord’s brakes before I have to do brake work. After a talk with that customer, he changed his driving habbit. Now I see him about 42,000 miles before pad changes. Fast driving and tailgating will always increase your brake wear. Drive within the posted speed limits, be patient and repectful and you can save a lot of money in your vehicle’s brake maintenance.
Not sure if your suv is old and leaking oil or not, but if not keep an eye on it in case that does happen with lower weight oil. Don’t know why you used such a different oil unless it’s old high mileaged and or leaking.
What a lot of people fail to ask is what country the vehicle is in as different countries have different limits for the same vehicle. In Australia my 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander Diesel is allowed 2000kg but not in other countries like the USA which has lower limits. It tows 2 tonne easily, so why the lower limits?
Think of a hybrid car as a regular gasoline car with “electric assist”. Basically, it’s a normal car that has an electric engine stuffed into the gears somewhere that takes over in all those situations where a gas engine alone would be running at less than optimal efficiency, which leads to a slightly lower fuel consumption than you get in a normal car. My estimate based on my own cars is that a hybrid consumes perhaps 30% less fuel than a normal car. I have a 2018 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid 2.5, which ...
