Looks like the all-new 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander is set to make its world debut on 16 February 2021! The launch date was revealed in a new teaser video that showcased how Mitsubishi Motors subjected the next-generation Outlander to gruelling tests to make sure the SUV continues to be a competent off-roader when it is finally unleashed on the world.

Though the Outlander in the video is still wrapped in camouflage, we already know how the fourth-generation Mitsubishi Outlander will look like courtesy of some very revealing leaked photos of the car that surfaced online last year.

Since then, Mitsubishi has unveiled a shadowy teaser image of the SUV before releasing this new video that shows the Outlander testing in various countries in mud, snow, gravel, and water.

Not much can be seen of the interior but from what we can see in the short clip, the infotainment touchscreen will be set atop the centre dashboard rather than integrated into the dash like in the outgoing Outlander.

What we know so far?

The Mitsubishi Outlander’s exterior is reminiscent of the Mitsubishi Engelberg Tourer concept car previewed at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. 

Expect the next-generation Outlander to grow in size as it will borrow the platform of the Nissan Rogue, Nissan’s best-selling vehicle in the USA.

Engine wise, the Outlander is expected to be powered by a 2.5-litre naturally aspirated engine mated to a CVT. But this setup is probably only limited to the USA, the rest of the world might get a new plug-in hybrid system (PHEV) paired with a 2.4-litre petrol engine option as well.
