From Wiki. The new Mercedes-Benz pickup takes its chassis and some body panels from the ,Nissan Navara, and employs many Mercedes-specific features and technologies. It has gone on sale in early 2017. So they’re doing a coachwork type thing where they take a car chassis, and and add their own internals which wiki refer to as “Mercedes-specific features and technologies”. All comments here are wrong! I work for an online vehicle re-marketer, certainly the cars don’t go to graveyards or recycled for scrap, these cars are bought in bulk by companies like us for a reduced price and then place it for sale to different countries to avoid price competition and brand depreciation, but usually are for sale B2B only, car dealerships overseas, car rental agencies, but luckily if you know how and where to ask, you can score a good deal up to 40% off a brand new car, usually 1 year old example we have Nissan navaras/ frontiers 2017 2WD and 4WD (we are in 2018) for export starting at $12.900 and that same car MSRP is 25K to 35K if you know about import duties and customs you can make a great deal. if you are outside the US and want to take a look, the site is ,https://casauto.com/inventory
Nope, they’re expensive, unreliable, vulgar, and the customer service is terrible from its dealers. I drive a Nissan Navara D23 2019, which I bought last year, and I love it! I once parked it next to a new Jeep wrangler… and boy was the difference huge. My Nissan Navara looked way more off-road capable and rugged than the Strangler.
I have a 1949 Riley (petrol) that had purportedly covered over 250,000 miles before I bought it in 84. It has never had a full engine overhaul and still has the original white metal bearings. I have a 2008 Nissan Navara pickup that has covered 235,000km and seems as good as new. It gets a regular hammering up to our farm on dirt roads every week, usually loaded up, though it rarely looks as clean as in the photo -
Nissan beats Hyundai, hands down! Nissan and Hyundai are global, but Nissan has more recognition and fame, in media and motorsport. Yeah, they have the GT-R, but they also have great 4x4s. I’m from Belgium, and here Nissan has plentiful and better choices than Hyundai. I bought a brand new Nissan Navara D23 and I love it, great value for money, comfortable, versatile, and very pleasant to drive! Hyundai doesn’t even build a pick-up! Nissan and Renault sure are married, with Mitsubishi involved, but lately they’ve also have Mercedes being involved, which is epic! Massive collab!
Three weeks ago I bought my Nissan Navara 2019, brand new, with stock deal which reduced the price A LOT! I chose the Nissan Navara because of its character. It’s design is appealing, interior is very comfortable, and the overall well-equipped. My Navara makes me feel like I’m in the premium car at the same level as a BMW or Mercedes. One of the reason being Nissan’s history of building the GT-R and the Patrol, and the Datsun (said to be one of the toughest cars and trucks built in the 70s and 80s). My Nissan Navara is very nice to drive, it’s maneuverable enough for it’s size and class. Economical as it needs to be, it doesn’t consume a lot. On the roads and highway it’s very solid to drive, I reached the highest speed of 190 km/h and the car was planted, nothing shook, everything remained intact. Off the tarmac was just as great, my Nissan Navara handled the country roads and grass. Overall, I really like my Nissan Navara, it looks great and feels great to drive. I would recommend that pickup truck to anyone in market looking for one. The Mitsubishi L200 is also a good choice, if only there more dealers.
Well, Sharing platforms and Engines is a common practice between automakers. This saves huge amount of money required to spend on R&D of new engine. There are plethora of models which run on same engine. Some of them are mentioned below. Cars Running on Fiat 1.3 L Diesel Engine Fiat may not have huge presence in India, but it is making business by selling engines. Its ubiquitous and shares many many platforms through India. Developed in 2003 by FCA, 1.3L Multijet engine. Almost all of the ,Maruti Suzuki diesel cars, in India have this engine. Recently Maruti has developed an in house 1.5 L Indigenous DDiS engine, now used in ,Ertiga ,and, Ciaz., Maruti, ,is planning to leave Fiat’s Multijet engine beside because of BS6 Norms being kicked in and want to cut costs. Even TATA is also a big fan of this engine. ,Tata Zest ,and, Tata Bolt, use this engine. In past , Chevrolet, also had the taste of this engine. ,Chevrolet Beat, Sail, Sail Hatchback, and Enjoy MPV, all of them have 1.3 L Multijet engine in them. India’s first sub compact SUV- Premier RIO, is also a victim of this engine. And Fiat’s own models like, Avventura, Punto, Linea, Urban Cross,, etc… also have the same engine. A view of 1.3L Multijet engine in Tata’s Bolt hatchback. Image Sourced from Autocar India Cars Running on FCA’S 2.0 L Engine FCA is one of the major engine developers across the world. It spends Millions of dollars on R&D. ,FCA’S Jeep Compass, runs on 2.0 L Multijet engine. ,Tata Harrier and MG Hector ,also have the same engine under the hood. But each one get its own tuned version. Interestingly, these all cars belong to the same segment in India. Upcoming Harrier 7 seater, christened as ,Buzzard, is also going to run on this same engine. Recently updated ,Force Gurkha, has Daimler’s OM611 engine. In turn, Force Motors also builds and assembles engines for Mercedes at its Pithampur Plant. Mahindra,’s 1.2L engine- termed as “mFalcon” is developed by its Korean subsidary ,Ssangyong. Cars running on VW engines VW family shares different engines with its subsidaries. ,VW’s 2.0 TFSI petrol engine is shared with Audi A4, Skoda Octavia RS, SEAT Leon Cupra, Audi A5, Audi Q3, Audi Q7,Audi Q5,, etc . Also 2.0 TDI diesel engine is shared among ,Passat, Jetta, Tiguan , A4,A5,A6,Q3,Q5,Q7, etc… VW 2.0 L TDI engine in Jetta Image sourced from Autocar UK Mercedes A class ,has a, Renault, 1.5 L dCI engine undr its hood making 116 bhp and 260 Nm of torque. Also Daimler’s cute subsidary ,Smart, shares its tiny engines with some ,Renault, models. Nissan Renault and Daimler also did badge engineering. Infiniti QX30 available in US is a rebadged Mercedes A class. In turn, Mercedes X class is based on Nissan Navara Pickup. BMW 1 series, has PSA family engines under its hood. 1.4L and 1.6 L petrol engines from ,Peugeot, are found in 116i , Old Minis, and some 3 series models. AMG engines Pagani, ,and the recent ,Aston Martin Vantage, ,, DB11 ,2019 have AMG engines underneath. Upcoming 2020 ,Land Rover Defender, is to be powered by, BMW,’s 4.4L twin turbo V8 engine, Rivaling AMG G63. Upcoming 2020 Land Rover Defender Image sourced from Topgear. Thank you.
My 2019 Nissan Navara D23 says: Hold my beer! Seriously, my Navara D23 makes the Jeep Gladiator look vulgar and try-hard. In Belgium, Jeep Wranglers (and the other Jeep models) don’t have a good reputation, they have severe reliability issues and RARELY spotted on the road. Here it’s the Nissan Navara, Toyota Hilux, Mitsubishi L200, VW Amarok and Ford Ranger who dominate Belgian roads. The Jeep Gladiator will face HUGE competition and the Japanese (Nissan, Toyota and Mitsubishi) are going to crush it easily with their reliability and equally good off-road capability, they are also cheaper to afford and better value for money! I love my Nissan Navara, and I think Jeep is long gone from the 4x4 business.
Toyota and Volkswagen in this day and age, are almost equal in terms of reliability. Call me crazy, but I believe this is indeed the case! Yes, I’m saying Volkswagen is actually as reliable as Toyota, here in Europe. I can’t speak about the experience faced around the world, but I know here in Western Europe, they both are equal. The only difference is that, Toyota cars last longer, and have more durability. Whilst Volkswagen cars are tanks, they’re solid build, you feel like it’s serious business, that too Volkswagen cars tend to be very practical. Toyota: more durable. Volkswagen: strongly built. But they both have their disadvantages. Toyota: Their cars tend to be very boring to drive, they make excessive use of plastics, they don’t come across as very practical by some of their designs. Toyota design cars they seem characterless and rather generic, except their 4x4s which are adorable. Volkswagen: Their cars tend to be very expensive, and somewhat more expensive when options are added. Volkswagen cars also tend to be more fragile in terms of heavy duty and utility work. Edit: 3 months ago I bought a new Nissan Navara D23, which I’m very happy with! It has some Volkswagen and Toyota relevance. It proves that Nissan lies in between Toyota and VW. VW the fact that it’s interior is nicely and logically laid out, good quality and pleasant to drive. Whilst Toyota the fact that it’s reliable, Japanese, bold and ready for 4x4 challenges. Toyota (and Nissan and Mitsubishi) 4x4s are one of the best and most reputed in the world. From the scorching heat of the Sahara and Aussie outback, to the frozen rocks and ice of Siberia, and the North/South pole. Whilst VW is more renown for it’s steady commitment to quality, and practical innovation. While Toyota has the best 4x4s, VW has the best family cars out of the two, like the Passat sedans, Polo and Golf hatchbacks, Transporter and Crafter vans/busses!
Mercedes and Renault/Nissan have a cooperation, which for instance means that Renault bought 3 percent of the Daimler shares and is one of the largest single shareholders of Daimler. The cooperation with Renault becomes visible when you compare the current Renault Kangoo with the current Mercedes Citan: Both cars are technically the same. They also are made by Renault in the same factory. The Mercedes costs about 1,000 USD more, that’s it. The Daimler brand Smart also has started a deep cooperation with Renault. When they developed the new Smart microcar, it was set up together with the new Renault Twingo. Both cars are technically identical and are also made in the same factory: Nissan-Renault right now is the market leader in electric vehicles, the Renault Zoe is the best selling EV in Europe. The new Smart Electric drive uses a powertrain provided by Renault. I assume that Daimler and Nissan-Renault will enhance their cooperation on that field in the future. Mercedes also cooperates with Nissan. The new Mercedes Pickup X-Class is based on the Nissan Navara, and it is also assembled in the same factory: The cooperation pays for both sides. Just think about Mercedes, Renault and Nissan working together for an electric charging infrastructure…
