China's Great Wall Motor (GWM) have built a name for themselves in the off-road arena, and those capabilities were recently highlighted at the GWM Ice and Snow Festival, held from 9- to 15-January 2025, at Changbai Mountain. While the event emphasised bone-chilling weather – temperatures below -30 Celcius not uncommon – it was a showcase of Haval, Tank, and Poer models' capabilities in extreme conditions. In fact, it's something of a back-to-back torture test, as the cars were previously tested

Great Wall Motor (GWM) Malaysia celebrated an extraordinary sales milestone in 2024 with an impressive year-on-year growth of 331%. This is due to low base effect as GWM never had a mainstream model until Q4 2024 with the launch of the Haval H6 HEV in October. China’s Great Wall Motor (GWM) sold a total of 1,233,292 cars in 2024, a modest increase of 0.21% from last year. Overall growth was dragged down by its pure electric-only (BEV) Ora brand, which saw sales decline by 41.7% to 63,272 units. As a BEV-only brand, Ora is at a disadvantage as Chinese buyers are now shifting their attention to plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) and extended-range hybrid EVs (EREVs). Most leading Chinese EV manufacturers are pivoting to PHEVs and EREVs, which are seeing much stron

The GWM Wey 80, known as the Gaoshan in China, has been previewed at the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS) 2024. As part of Great Wall Motor’s luxury Wey sub-brand, the Wey 80 is positioned to compete with premium MPVs like the Toyota Alphard. This preview hints at GWM Malaysia’s intention to bring the model to local showrooms, although specifications for the Malaysian market are yet to be confirmed and there's no right-hand drive versions of it at the moment. The display unit is a s
