Everybody loves a good Easter Egg, and Honda is happy to oblige and indulge their fans with a lovely tribute in its 11th-generation Honda Civic.
According to a post from the Civic 11 Forum, the forum member found a papercraft template of the original 1972 first-generation Civic moulded into the small coin tray insert of the centre console. A loving homage to the tiny hatchback that started it all.
However, donāt go poking around and peeling the new FE Honda Civic's interior trim pieces off when it arrives here. The user who found the Easter Egg is in Canada, where they receive the Canadian-built North American spec model.
It is unlikely that the Asian market FE Civics will feature such titbits. Such details are likely to be lost in the process of parts localisation or production just will not have the time to indulge in such frivolities.
This isnāt the first time Hondaās designers have squeezed in a little treat for Honda fans. Its predecessor (US market models) had an elaborate mural to Hondaās incredible history printed underneath its centre console rubber spill mat.
From what netizens have gathered, there wasnāt just one mural, but four different designs. These murals featured all of Hondaās great technical achievements ā the dominating RC166 motorcycle, Ayrton Sennaās McLaren-Honda MP4/5B, Jensen Buttonās RA106 F1 car, the S800 sports car, the NS500 motorcycle, ASIMO, the breakthrough RA272 F1 car, and Soichiro Hondaās Curtiss race car. All four designs shared the image of a Honda Jet flying through.
Thatās not all. Owners of the current FC Honda Civic sedans that were built from Hondaās Yorii plant later found a fifth mural. This one featured the stylised side profiles of every Civic generation, with the words āHonda Civicā written in modern Japanese katakana script.
Who knows, if this proves to be popular enough to grow into a running theme, Honda might even sneak more easter eggs into upcoming models. Maybe on a global level too. Fans can only hope.
