Lexus Malaysia has just launched the 2021 Lexus LC 500 Convertible in Malaysia. The brand-new soft-top convertible from Lexus is priced from RM 1.35 million (with SST, without insurance). Like the LC 500 Coupe, the LC 500 Convertible comes fully imported (CBU) from Toyota’s Motomachi plant in Japan.

Compared to the LC 500 Coupe, the newly-introduced chop-top version of the LC 500 gains a new soft top – a first for Lexus. The choice of the soft top was to minimize the intrusion to the boot and cabin space, as hard tops tend to occupy more space.

The soft top, which is available in black or beige, can be opened or closed at speeds of up to 50 km/h. It takes approximately 15 seconds to open and approximately 16 seconds to close.

Putting the soft top aside, other equipment of the Lexus LC 500 Convertible include:

Like the LC 500 Coupe, the convertible LC 500 is powered by a 5.0-litre naturally-aspirated 2UR-GSE petrol engine that does 477 PS at 7,100 rpm and 540 Nm at 4,800 rpm, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The century sprint is completed in just 4.9 seconds, while top speed is electronically-limited to 270 km/h.

As for safety equipment, the 2021 Lexus LC 500 Convertible is very well equipped, as it bundles the Lexus Safety System+ (LSS+) ADAS suite that includes Pre-Collision System (PCS), Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Lane Departure Alert (LDA) with Steering Control, Automatic High Beam (AHB), and Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA).

Although the convertible version of the LC 500 loses the roof, airbag count is not compromised. It gets 6 airbags in total, with the airbags installed at the door sides of the front seats are mounted higher so curtain airbags aren’t necessary.

The 2021 Lexus LC 500 Convertible also gets Active Roll Bars that immediately extend upwards to provide support in the event of a roll-over.

Colours options of the 2021 Lexus LC 500 Convertible include, White Nova Glass Flake, Deep Blue Mica, Sonic Silver, Terrane Khaki Mica Metallic, Naples Yellow Contrast Layering, Blazing Carnelian Contrast Layering, Radiant Red Contrast Layering, Black, Graphite Black Glass Flake, Dark Gray Mica and Sonic Titanium.
