Alongside the 2024 Mercedes-Maybach GLS and 2024 Mercedes-AMG S63, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has also launched the “regular” 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 4Matic, which comes fully-imported (CBU) from US, with prices starting from RM 999,888.

As seen from the global debut, the GLS has a redesigned front grille featuring four horizontal louvres. The revised apron flaunts gloss black trim encircling the corner air inlets, accompanied by a redesigned bottom panel.

At the rear, the taillight graphics comprises three horizontal blocks, a departure from the angular rings of the preceding model.

Under the bonnet lies a 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six petrol engine generating 381 PS and 500 Nm of torque, paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Complementing this powertrain is a 48-volt mild hybrid system, equipped with an integrated starter alternator (ISG) delivering an additional 20 PS and 200 Nm. 

As part of the facelift, Mercedes-Benz has updated the software for active roll stabilization and air suspension. Standard features include Magic Vision Control, power-closing doors, and Guard 360.

Inside the cabin, the GLS retains seating for seven occupants and a familiar dashboard layout with a few updates, one of which is the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) that running on the latest iteration, offering three display styles. Another change is the new steering wheel with capacitive touch controls.

The interior is adorned with brown open-pore walnut wood trim and a combination of Nappa leather and Artico synthetic leather upholstery. Front seats offer active cushions, massage functionality, heating, ventilation, and Energising Air Control.

Second-row seats feature massage functionality, lumbar support, and the Rear Comfort Package Plus, which includes luxury head restraints, MBUX rear seat tablet, wireless device charging, USB ports delivering 100 watts of output, and Thermotronic automatic climate control.

In terms of safety and assistance features, the updated GLS is equipped with Mercedes-Benz’s Pre-Safe system, Easy-Pack tailgate with hands-free access, Active Parking Assist with Parktronic, a 360-degree camera and a 'transparent bonnet' simulated view for off-road driving, exit warning function, tyre pressure monitoring system, and a full suite of driving assistant package that is capable of level 2 semi-autonomous driving.
