- All-new Lexus Global Architecture – K (GA-K) platform
- 2.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder with 204 PS/247 Nm
- Priced incredibly competitive despite being fully imported from Japan
We last saw the all-new seventh-generation Lexus ES 250 at the 2018 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS). Ten months later, the luxury limousine is now officially available to the local market.
Lexus Malaysia is offering the ES 250 in two different trims, Premium and Luxury. Being a Lexus, the ES 250 is naturally fully imported from Japan but interestingly the local distributor has managed to keep prices extremely competitively.
There’s only one engine option available, the 2.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine developing 204 PS and 247 Nm of torque. Drive is transferred to the front wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Being a Lexus, it doesn’t even bother to compete against the German’s obsession with performance. Taking a leisure 9.1 seconds to complete the century sprint while top speed is achieved at a lowly 210 km/h.
If you’re the type to be driven, the ES 250 Luxury is the one to have with its powered reclining rear seats, rear side sunblinds, ambient lighting and the supple semi-aniline leather.
But the question is, would you rather be seen being dropped off from a Mercedes-Benz, BMW or this sultry Lexus ES?
