CKD Chery Omoda 5, Tiggo 8 Pro have ADAS and suspension fine-tuned for Malaysia's roads

There's lots that go behind the making of a car, and it's no different for the CKD Chery Omoda 5 and Chery Tiggo 8 Pro in Malaysia, as specific attention was paid in the fine-tuning of their advanced driver aids (ADAS) and suspension for our market.

"First is safety. Safety functions, ADAS system. We did a lot of test here. Also for the tyres, chassis, and suspension, all of these to make a comfortable driving experience here," said Leo Chen, Country Director of Chery Malaysia, in a BFM 89.9 radio interview.
Chen said that studies with potential customers were also done, including the breadth and performance of functions, upon which the company's research and development (R&D) teams fine-tuned it to suit local needs.
Adjusting functions for local markets is an important step to make, if anything to ensure the driving experience on our roads is fluent. For example, the heavy presence of lane-splitting motorcycles in Malaysia will send cars with unadapted blind spot monitors into a frenzy, as it detects 'imminent collision'. One such example is with the BYD Atto 3, as we found in our review.
Citing differing road conditions from China, Chen also mentioned that the locally-assembled Chery cars sold here have also had their tyres, chassis, and suspension tuned.
Both the Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro in Malaysia come with the full suite of ADAS functions, namely:

Adaptive Cruise Control with Low Speed Follow (ACC w/ LSF, 0-180 km/h)

Traffic Jam Assist (TJA)
The Omoda 5 is priced from RM 108,800 (C) and RM 118,800 (H), while the sole Tiggo 8 Pro starts from RM 159,800.
