The all-new 2023 Honda CR-V recently made its Indonesian debut at the ongoing 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) and its biggest talking point is the massive price hike compared to its predecessor.
With two variants offered β 1.5L VTEC Turbo that starts at IDR 739.9 million (~RM 224k) and 2.0L RS e:HEV which is priced at IDR 799.9 million (~RM 242k), the CR-Vβs starting price in Indonesia has gone up a whopping 40 percent! However, like for like, prices for the all-new turbocharged variant have gone up 11 percent in the archipelago which is still pretty steep.
Since its launch last week, 432 units of the sixth-gen CR-V have been placed nationwide and the majority of buyers, 73%, went for the more expensive hybrid variant.
βOf the 432 units, 317 of them are for the hybrid,β said Yusak Billy, Business Innovation and Sales & Marketing Director PT Honda Prospect Motors (HPM), to our colleagues at AutoFun ID.
Yusak acknowledged the negativity surrounding the price of the all-new CR-V in Indonesia but knew customers would accept this as Honda consistently provides value for them. βI have also read the comments and price hikes are normal for an all-new model but I believe our customers would understand the true value,β he said.
Still, prices for the all-new CR-V in the archipelago are expected to increase again in October as the current prices are valid until 30-September.
As for the all-new CR-Vβs Malaysian arrival, it could be reaching our shores by the end of the year and a few units have already been spotted on our roads. Still, you can expect a price bump for the all-new CR-V here as seen in our neighbours.
