In Indonesia, only two variants of the all-new CR-V are being offered with deliveries for the hybrid variant only starting in October. Due to the higher demand, HPM is ramping up deliveries of the hybrid to around 500 units a month compared to the VTEC Turbo’s 100 units per month.

Despite the expensive price, most Indonesian buyers prefer getting the CR-V Hybrid and it’s a trend that can be seen on some new models in the country. For instance, the hybrid versions of the Yaris Cross and the all-new Alphard outsold their petrol variants respectively in Indonesia.

This type of trend would not happen in Malaysia as the country’s petrol prices remain among the cheapest in the world thanks to subsidies. On the other hand, Indonesia which is also a large oil producer only offers subsidised petrol for lower octane RON 90 also known as Pertamax at IDR 10,000 (RM 3.01) per litre but this is only applicable to certain vehicles.

As for the all-new CR-V, it will be the fourth and final model to be introduced by Honda Malaysia in 2023. It has been spied on our roads and besides, Honda has already launched 3 new models here – Honda WR-V, Honda City facelift, and the FL5 Honda Civic Type R. Could we see the introduction of the CR-V e:HEV for the first time here?
