Haval H6 Hyrbid launch
During a Great Wall Motors’ (GWM) New Energy Strategy conference yesterday in Beijing, Haval brand manager Li Xiaorui announced that they will stop producing ICE-only (internal combustion engine) cars in China by 2030 while revealing that their NEVs (New Energy Vehicles) will constitute 80% of Haval’s sales by 2025.
If you don't already know, NEVs in China refers to new type of power systems either as a hybrid or completely driven by the new energy source. These would typically include plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and fuel-cell electric vehicles (FCVs).
GWM joins BYD Chinese automaker who said goodbye to fossil fuelled vehicles in March 2022 as they aim to focus on pure electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles only.
The Haval H6 was the best-selling SUV in Chinese domestic market between 2017 to 2021 but recently China has seen an NEV market boom since the launch of BYD Song as it became the best-selling SUV between January to July 2022 (162,573 units of Song vs 123,496 units of H6).
At the same conference, Haval launched their 2022 Haval H6 Hybrid. Two variants are offered, the H6 DHT (Dedicated Hybrid Transmission) and H6 DHT-PHEV (plug-in hybrid). Could Haval finally take back its crown?
