A concept in all but name, the Suzuki Swift concept is pretty much ready for showrooms as it previews the new fourth generation of the little hot hatch that’s set for a launch in 2024. The concept nomenclature aside, the car looks like a production model and has a inline-3 cylinder engine with a mild hybrid system.

Like all concepts, the numbers aren’t set in stone yet but the little stand next to it indicates the inline-3 will have VVT and the aforementioned mild-hybrid system but is unfortunately mated to a CVT that drives the front wheels.

If you’re thinking it doesn’t look too different from the current Swift that’s because it’s likely built on the same platform. The dimensions are 3,860 mm long, 1,695 mm wide, 1,500 mm tall and a wheelbase of 2,450 mm, meaning the wheelbase, width and height are identical to the current Swift.

That front end has been given a redesign and the first thing to catch your eye will be the more angular headlights. It’s now been repositioned a little lower for the semi-clamshell hood to sit over it.

The clamshell-like hood line also forms the shoulder line for the side of the car and extends all the way to the rear. With a hybrid system, cooling might be less of an issue, hence the grille is now smaller as well.

While the overall design and shape is unmistakably Swift, the updated design does set it apart from the current model and will definitely be a fresh new look once it hits the streets in 2024. We’re more excited about the Swift Sport that will spawn from this though.
