A new and improved 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 has been announced today. Long range variants will now get bigger 84 kWh battery, up from the previous model’s 77.4 kWh (Malaysian market models get a different 72.6 kWh unit).

The front and rear bumper have been replaced with a new design, but add 20 mm to the car’s overall length, now at 4,655 mm. Width (1,890 mm) and height (1,605 mm) remain unchanged, as is its 3,000 mm wheelbase.

The rear spoiler has been extended further back by 50 mm. This, along with a new set of wheels, are claimed to improve the cars aerodynamics but no c/d figures were revealed.

Inside, the vehicle’s controls have been made more user-friendly. The number of physical buttons has increased to include buttons for front seat ventilation / heating, park assist, parking camera, and front parking sensor – all located ahead of the front-centre arm rest.

The new steering wheel now features interactive pixel lighting, illuminating the four dots (morse code for the letter H).

The previous car’s buttons for infotainment and air-conditioning have also been re-arranged for easier operation. The smartphone wireless charging pad has been relocated from the lower part to the upper part, for easier reach.

Additional sound insulation for the rear-wheel motor and a revised suspension setup contribute to a more comfortable ride. Hyundai says a more rigid cowl crossbar will reduce vibrations transmitted to the steering wheel.

Following the success of the Ioniq 5 N, a dressed up Ioniq 5 N Line will join the line-up. The accessorized variant adds N Line steering wheel and dashboard, N Line exclusive metal pedals, black headliner, dedicated sport seats with the N logo, red contrast stitching and two seat covering options.

The new and improved 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 will be launched in international markets in phases. Seeing that our local Malaysian market specifications Hyundai Ioniq 5 are imported from Korea (CBU), it’s reasonable to expect the upgraded Ioniq 5 to be launched here, with a matching increase in price.
