Oil filter leaks: Perodua studying alternative solutions to resolve issue as quickly as possible

Speaking to media at the sidelines of Perodua's booth at the Malaysia Autoshow yesterday, the company's Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad said that the company are trying all alternatives to solve the recent leaking oil filter issue plaguing certain models as quickly as possible.
To recap, certain models β the Aruz, and the current crop of DNGA-based cars namely the Ativa, Alza, and Axia β have been affected by leaky oil filters, as evident by plenty of owners' comments on social media.
"The existing vendors must make improvements within certain period of time, which we're monitoring based on the improvements shown so far," he explained before adding that there's been a downtrend of warranty claims for oil filter-related problems since February 2023.
"This means that once we've replaced the oil filters, there's no problem," Datuk Zainal continued.
He however clarified that cars coming off the factory floors have no oil filter problems β the issues stem from the replacement filters that come from a different supplier. Perodua employs two suppliers because one supplier alone cannot meet their manufacturing capacity requirements.
Perodua notes that they're trying every all the alternatives possible to resolve this issue by mid-2023.
