Reason why I bought this car

It Is nice to drive daily for all purposes.

Car selection process

• I had a budget of: RM 80k
• Models that I have considered include: Mazda 2 Sedan, Honda City 

The reason why I choose this car

• The moment I test driving it, I'm hooked by the feeling of how it drives.
• Fit into my budget.
• Practical enough.
• Can't afford the Mazda 2 Sedan Soul Red.

User experience

• I have already done 62,000 km
• My average fuel consumption is 11~14 km/L
• Delightful drive all the time.
• Not happy when paying the bills. (Wear and Tear, Maintenance)
• Good NVH.
• Stable and relax on highway drive.
• Jerks during low speed.

Pros & Cons

Pros

• Solid chassis. Handle corners like a champ for B-segment Sedan.
• Good FC. (Super heavy footed)
• Comfortable.
• NVH.
• Powerful TSI Engine + DSG Transmission = Fun
• Sound system is good with just 4 speakers. 
• Pass the big bottle test.
• Practical.
• Sweet Engine sound for a small displacement car.

Cons

• High maintenance cost. Wear and tear and the major services will cost you a lot of money. 
• It's really bad at handling potholes with its stiff suspension and low profile tyres. (Insert Vin Diesel meme)
• Low speed. It jerks and I'm still afraid of the dry clutch failure even though I'm driving a DCT properly as per recommended. Manual mode and avoid creeping during traffic jams.
• Uper kosong specification for the price. It doesn't have Keyless entry, Reverse camera, auto-folding side mirror, shark-in antenna and more... 
• No foot rest.
• Hill-start Assist. It cancels whenever you touch the accelerator and it will fall behind rapidly. Scary during congestion at steep slopes.

Some interesting events

I always take it to some syok sendiri touge run at the Hulu Langat -Kuala Klawang road. The turbo and the transmission really something you can gun it. Of course, within the car's limit. It's a very fun passenger car.

Like I mentioned before, it's a passenger car, so I assume everything of the hardware is built for normal daily use. I replaced my brake rotor twice within 3 years of ownership. It cost me approximately Rm1500 for a pair of brake pads and brake rotors, twice. I also replaced my tyres last year. 4 Nos of GITI Sports S1 Rm370 each following the stock size of 215/45/R16. It comes with 3 times free maintenance at (15k, 30k and 45k)km and I recently paid for my major service at 60,000km which cost me Rm2500+.

So far the car has served me well, it's extremely reliable and I do believe Volkswagen has sorted out its problem. If you can afford the maintenance cost, continental cars really offer you a lot more in the drive than a Japanese same segment car.
