Basic information about my car:
Mazada 3 BP 2020
Basic information about my car:
Mazada 3 BP 2020
Reasons why I bought this car:
Initially, I was using Myvi that inherited from my family. After worked for 3 years, I wanted to buy a car that trully belongs to myself. I have been using a hatchback, hence I wanted a sedan. Sedan is more steady on highway cruising. Sedan also have more space for luggage, which is more practical when having roadtrip with friends and family.
Car selection process
- Our budget is tight which was RM150,000
- Models that I have considered include: Honda Civic FC
Reasons why I chose this car:
I almost bought a Honda Civic FC, but Mazda 3 debuted at the moment. I am attracted by the exterior and interior instantaneously. In test drive session, I am impressed by the NVH performance, driving feel, stability, and comfortness of this Mazda 3. Hence, the deal is sealed!
User experience:
- I have already done: 31000km
- My average fuel consumption is 15km per litre
To be honest, I do not expect myself to be a Mazda owner. Honda and Toyota are more common and familiar for me. I am a fan of Honda Civic. It is a surprise for myself to buy a Mazda 3 too.
One of the features that I used the most is ACC, Adaptive Cruise Control. This feature enable my car to follow car ahead when cruising at highway, which reduces my effort and tiredness on long journey. Once set at 110km/h, I no longer worry about exceeding speed limit, and I can relax my leg for the time being.
Android Auto & Apple Car Play is also very useful. Waze map can project on the screen, while audio can be played via on board speaker.
Pros of my car:
- Exceptional NVH performance. Wind noise and Tyre noise will appear at 140km/h above. I am very satisfied by the NVH performance of this car.
- GVC Plus, stable handling. In high speed cornering, GVC Plus effect is very obvious. It can create a strong sense of confidence and safety.
- Excellent ergonomics. Buttons arrangement and interior design are well thought, very easy to get used with.
- Excellent fuel consumption. Mazda's Skyactive-G engine is very fuel savvy. For example, My HR-V 1.8 need about 3/4 of fuel for a trip of Penang - Alor Setar. My Mazda 3 can complete 2 trips of Penang - Alor Setar, which is very surprising.
Cons of my car:
- Rear seat is slightly cramp. Not suitable for big sized passenger. If 3 passengers on board rear seat, it can be uncomfy.
- Opening for rear boot is small, unable to fit big size luggage.
- Not Turbo engine, lack of grunt. Slightly unsatisfying.

Summary:
In conclusion, I am very satisfied with Mazda 3 overall performance. I have driven Myvi, Honda HR-V, Toyota Camry. I think Mazda 3 suits me the most. It might be small, but I am still single, hence no problem for me. In future, I will buy a Toyota Alphard/Vellfire for my family trip.
If you never driven a Mazda 3 before, I strongly recommend you to go test drive. You don't have to buy if you don't like it, but you can surely feel the unique characteristic of Mazda 3!
Interesting Event:
When I send my car to tyre shop for alignment balancing or tyre patching, the shop owner will always compliment about the car. He say, it is a nice car to drive!
