Headlight Magazine reports that the all-new 2022Honda Civic (FE) sedan will be launching in Thailand next month, this time coming with just one engine option across the board.
The publication states that the Thai-spec 11th-gen Civic will drop the currently-offered 1.8-litre, naturally-aspirated engine, and every variant will then be powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged mill.
It's unclear if a similar arrangement will be followed in Malaysia, as our regulations and tax structures differ from Thailand's carbon emissions-based ones.
Depending on variant, the outgoing 10th-gen Civic (FC) in Thailand and Malaysia currently gets two engine options:
10th-gen Honda Civic FC powertrains
Powertrain
1.8L NA
141 PS / 174 Nm
CVT
1.5L turbo
173 PS / 220 Nm
CVT
If the launch takes place as reported, Thailand could be first country outside of North America to sell the all-new model, just three months after it made its world debut.
The same thing happened with the previous generation too, with the Civic FC making its regional debut in the Kingdom 6 months after the model was first introduced in the USA.
Closer to home, we've been teased about the all-new 2022 Honda Civic appearing in Malaysia this year. Pending further announcements, we still have the briskly-selling Civic FC.
