Making its right-hand drive (RHD) debut at the ongoing 2024 Bangkok Motor Show is the Zeekr X SUV.
The model has so far been seen in left-hand drive (LHD) configuration, and its introduction in RHD hints at the possibility of it being the first of the two models from the brand that is slated to be launched in the Kingdom, the other being the Zeekr 009 MPV.
Previously, we’ve reported that Zeekr - Geely's premium battery electric vehicle (BEV) subsidiary – is preparing to enter the Thailand market, with sales slated to commence in the first half of the year.
Reports have also pointed out that the nod has been given to a subsidiary of PTT, Arun Plus, to orchestrate the establishment of Ze Mobility Plus Limited as the authorised dealer of Zeekr BEVs.
Being a preview, not much details have been divulged for the Thai market. But what we do know is that it sits on Geely’s Scalable Electric Architecture (SEA) platform, which also underpins the Smart #1.
The Zeekr X measures 4,450 mm in length, 1,836 mm in width, and 1,572 mm in height, with a wheelbase spanning 2,750 mm. It’s a fair bit longer overall compared to Smart #1 (4,450 mm vs 4,270 mm) but the wheelbase is identical to the Smart #1.
There’s more that’s shared with the Smart #1 - powertrain. In China, it’s offered with either a single-motor, rear-wheel drive or a dual-motor, all-wheel drive setup.
Power outputs range from 272 PS/343 Nm to 428 PS/543 Nm, paired with a 66-kWh battery for both variants, offering a CLTC-rated range of up to 560 km.

According to a Reuters report, Zeekr aims to debut two EV models in Thailand by June, accompanied by the establishment of 10 showrooms across the country within the year.
Mars Chen, Vice President and Head of Emerging Markets at Zeekr, stated the company's aspiration to position itself within the premium segment, citing favourable market conditions for new entrants. "In the premium segment, there's a lot of room for a new player like us," Chen said.
