Looks like we’re another step closer to the launch of the all-new fourth-generation 2022 Hyundai Tucson as the SUV has been spotted in Malaysia.

Our friends over at Funtasticko received a tip-off from a reader who came across the SUV when he was dropping off his wife’s car at a service centre.

Amongst the ASEAN country, the fourth-generation Tucson is on sale only in Vietnam.

In Vietnam, the version on sale is the long-wheelbase 2,755 mm Tucson. Hyundai Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) will most likely also follow in the footsteps and sell the long-wheelbase here in Malaysia as well.

In Vietnam, the Tucson is available in four variants and three engines; a 2.0-litre Smartstream diesel engine (186 PS/ 416 Nm), a 2.0-litre petrol engine (156 PS/ 192 Nm), and a 1.6-litre T-GDi turbocharged petrol engine (180 PS/ 265 Nm).

HSDM will most probably only make the 2.0-litre petrol engine and 1.6-litre turbocharged engine available in Malaysia. However, we wouldn’t rule out a hybrid option as well.
