The Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV now has an even more upscale variant, the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV.

Like the Maybach GLS, the highlight of the Maybach EQS SUV are the rear seats. MBUX High-End Rear Seat Entertainment and two 11.6-inch screens are standard, allowing content to be shared quickly and easily.

It is also possible to select and modify the navigation destinations from the rear seats. MBUX rear tablet can also be used outside the vehicle.

Just like the Maybach GLS, the Maybach EQS SUV has MBUX Interior Assist, which recognizes hand gestures to control the interior light, seat belt extender, sun blinds, etc.

Compared to a regular EQS SUV, the Maybach EQS SUV has a different centre console, which now flows continuously from the front to the rear. Also new is a projector in the centre console that discreetly projects the Maybach emblem onto the cabin floor.

A 15-speaker Burmester 4D surround sound system completes the experience. Like the EQS SUV, this Maybach also comes with synthesized sound, but with a Maybach-exclusive “Aerial Grace” driving sound.

Compared to a sedan with a closed off boot, SUVs tend to be noisier because road and axle noise from the rear will permeate into the cabin, as there is no physical separation between the passenger cell and the boot.

In the Maybach EQS SUV, the boot area is a sealed box. Mercedes-Benz did not provide a photo of the boot but describes the luggage compartment as “...transverse bulkhead fixed to the body, like in a saloon. It attaches to the upper edge of the rear seat backrest and seals off the trunk up to the lower edge of the rear window.”

The Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV is the first model from Mercedes-Benz AG to be fitted with vegetable-tanned leather. Coffee bean shells are used as tanning agents. The water used for tanning is conducted in a closed circuit and flows back into natural bodies of water after recycling. The fatliquoring agents used in tanning are also exclusively plant-based. The sustainably processed leather is not preserved with salt. This saves around 45 kilograms of salt per vehicle with leather seats. New upcycling products such as compostable flowerpots, insulating foams or decking boards are created from the “by-products” of tanning. The sustainably processed leather is therefore resource-saving. The coffee farmers also benefit as they receive a second income from selling the coffee bean shells.

The two-motor all-wheel drive 4-seater SUV makes 658 PS and 950 Nm! It goes from 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and has a top speed of 210 km/h. In low-load driving conditions, the rear axle will be disconnected, turning the Maybach EQS SUV into a front-wheel drive car.

It supports up to 22 kW AC charging and 200 kW DC charging. Driving range is up to 600 km (WLTP).

Battery capacity is not mentioned but the regular EQS SUV has a 107.8 kWh capacity.
