After the XPeng G6, which is set to be the company’s first right-hand drive (RHD) model and likely the first to make its way to Malaysia, the next confirmed RHD model from the Chinese BEV maker is the XPeng X9.
Prices for the XPeng X9 in China ranges from CNY 359,800 (around RM 237k) to CNY 419,800 (around RM 276k).
The XPeng X9 is built on the SEPA 2.0 platform, its dimensions stand at 5,293 mm long, 1,988 mm wide, 1,785 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3,160 mm. Despite its size, the X9 is said to have a drag coefficient of 0.227 Cd.
As standard, the X9 is equipped with an active rear-wheel steering system and dual-chamber air suspension. Its adaptive suspension system automatically adjusts spring stiffness based on road conditions.
Battery options include an 84.5 kWh pack with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry or a 101.5 kWh pack with ternary NMC chemistry. Depending on variant, the X9 achieves CLTC ranges of 610 km, 640 km, and 702 km.
While charging figures were not disclosed, the X9 uses an 800V architecture and the company says it can add 300 km of range in 10 minutes.
Propulsion options include a front-mounted motor setup (FWD) delivering 320 PS/450 Nm or a dual-motor setup (AWD) producing 503 PS/640 Nm.
Inside, there’s a 10.8-litre fridge, a 17.3-inch central infotainment screen, and a 21.4-inch roof-mounted screen catering to rear passengers' entertainment.
Another highlight of the X9 is its advanced ADAS system, including what the company calls full-scenario XNGP ADAS and its in-car operating system, XOS Tianji. This system handles various driving scenarios and is said to be even more advanced than Tesla’s Full-Self Driving system.
In Malaysia, an agreement with Bermaz has been signed to be XPeng’s local representative. The deal covers distribution rights, sales of spare parts, and provision of after-sales services, and is signed between Bermaz Auto and three XPeng affiliate companies.
Meanwhile, another Malaysian company has also been announced as XPeng's distributor, albeit for Hong Kong.
