honda crv navigation Q&A Review

What are the differences between SUV, TUV, and XUV type cars?

ISUV: SUV is expanded as Sports Utility Vehicles and are big cars, which were designed to go over rough surfaces or off-road. These vehicles can accommodate around 5-7 people. Few vehicles from this segment are Mahindra Scorpio, Toyota Fortuner, Maruti Grand Vitara, Tata Safari, Ford Endeavour and Honda CRV. They are known for performing some off road duties. These vehicles are apt for driving rough textured roads. The mid-size and full-size SUVs have generally three rows of seats and the cargo area is placed behind the last row of seats. It is preferred for people looking out for features like a spacious vehicle with a bit off road capability. SUV’s can be easily spotted by their appearances and looks, resembling a big station wagon. The XUV term is associated with the Mahindra XUV 500; it is an SUV produced by an Indian automobile company known as Mahindra and Mahindra. As it is an SUV, it certainly contains all the features of an SUV. This vehicle was designed and developed at the company’s build center present in Nashik and Chennai, whereas it is manufactured in Mahindra’s Chakan and Nashik plant in India. XUV 500 has the engine known as- mHawk140, Direct injection diesel engine 5th generation Variable Geometry Turbo. The max gross power of the engine is 140 Bhp (103kW) @ 3750 rpm and Max gross Torque is 330 Nm @1600-2800rpm. It comes with features like a fully-loaded GPS navigation system, a Driver Information System, Cruise Control, Intellipark Reverse Assist and Smart Rain and Light sensors. The XUV500 is the first monocoque SUV developed by Mahindra and Mahindra. TUV,300 I personally feel is a tough utility vehicle. A ,utility vehicle, is a vehicle, generally motorised, that is designed to carry out a specific task Thanks & regards R :-)

How many miles are on your car?

1997 Honda CRV, 238,000 miles. I buy old car models having a long reliable life reputation cheap and repair them until the transmission or engine becomes terminal. No car payments. Need AWD to navigate a long sloping driveway in icy conditions and snow.

Is the 2017 Lexus RX 350 better enough than the 2017 Honda CRV to justify a jump of $20,000?

If the looks don’t phase you then take the CRV for sure but just note that its possibly gonna be harder to sell in the long run. The reason for this is because when people shop for used cars, they adjust their choices according to their budget not the other way around. For example lets say it costs an extra 2k for navigation + backup camera. When it comes time to sell the car you obviously wouldn’t want to sell it for the same price as a car without it knowing yours is better. Taking that in mind, now the potential buyer of your used car has significantly less money to afford it and is discouraged to throw in the extra money. The Lexus also has its downsides as well. You’re gonna lose more money when trying to resell because its just the more expensive car in general. However, whatever I’ve just said has no meaning if you ultimately plan on driving the car until it drops dead on you. This decision is just a matter of personal preference. If you REALLY need a loaded CRV over a base model RX then choose the CRV. I personally would have never considered the CRV because I like to have nicer cars. The fact that you’re choosing between two distinctly different beasts just shows that you wouldn’t mind driving either. If this is the case I would take the CRV and save the money. That way if you do happen to stumble upon the car of your dreams you still have some money or smaller payments on the CRV (if you finance). I hope this helps you in choosing the right one. Good luck

Does the GPS in 2017 Honda CRV have lane guidance (very different from lane departure warning)? Lane guidance shows you which lane to be on.

I have a 2017 CR-V Touring. The lane guidance appears limited, although I just bought the car. I live and work on the outer edge of the Boston suburbs. It might be different for someone who does more urban or metropolitan driving. Personal opinion only — the stock navigation is very disappointing, especially for the price. It makes me wonder why Garmin is still in business. It is hard to beat Google and Waze (now owned by Google) for nav — both apps take signals ,sent from driver’s phones ,to calculate traffic issues and determine optimal routing. Garmin provides a traffic service for an additional fee, but the service ,receives, data only. I doubt it is as good as Google's real-time crowdsourced data. One thing I will do is give the lane guidance a test tomorrow when I am on the road. I'll be driving through an interchange where such a thing would be useful (two left exits and two right exits in less than 5 total miles). I'll update the post with what I find. EDIT: The navigation definitely has lane guidance.

How do so many people in Manila afford SUVs?

As Josh says, this question may refer to a number of SUV-like vehicles: AUVs like the Mitsubishi Adventure and the Isuzu Crosswind. CUVs, or crossovers, like the Toyota RAV-4, the Honda CRV, and the Nissan X-trail. Truck based SUVS such as the Mitsubishi Montero Sports, the Toyota Fortuner, and the Ford Everest. Truck based SUVs are actually the entry level to true and proper SUVS, in that they are purpose built for toughness terrain, with modest pretentions on the tar. In Manila, these are the body on frame SUVS, and the current best sellers in the market are the ,Montero Sport:, And the ,Fortuner,. And their pickup truck ubderpinnings: The ,Strada, And the ,Hilux, Selling at ₱1.2m ($27k) for the base models, they are priced just above compact sedans like the Honda Civic and the Toyota Corolla Altis, but offer more carrying capacity and durability. For the middle class families, these cars offer some of the best value for money as they: Are tough as nails. Are versatile, carrying up to 7 people, with cargo. And can traverse across all sorts of terrain. Run on diesel, which is cheaper than gas (petrol) Plasticky interiors that endure wear and tear. Tested engines. These engines have been used for decades, with a few updates interspersed through the years. Cheap maintenance. Preventative maintenance at the casa (dealership) is under ₱9k ($200), independents costs much less. Can reliably make provincial trips, for business or pleasure, and deal with the various road conditions. Can deal with the floods that come through Manila on a regular basis. The Mitsubishi Montero Sport has 3 variants in the range, each offering both manual (cheaper) and automatic transmissions: GLX: not equipped (until 2015) with the VGT turbo that kicks in at low rpms, steering well audio controls, cruise control. Presently sells at ₱1.2m GLS-V: VGT engine. Standard with GPS navigation. Comes in at ₱1.4m. GTV: VGT engine as well, and the only 4x4 in the range, with a high and low range selector. Standard with leather seats. List price is ₱1.7m. The GLX out sells the other variants by several factors. Multiplied over the long term, the value one gets from explains their popularity. Others in this class are the Chevrolet Trailblazer, the Isuzu MU-X, and Ford Everest. The market is anticipating the all new Everest, based on the Ranger platform:

What is the worst thing that has happened to you while camping?

My wife and I decided to visit Fall Creek Falls state park in Tennessee. We were new RVer’s, probably less than a month. It was October and the fall colors were popping. We had a motor home towing a Honda CRV. For some reason, we stopped at a Walmart. I set the parking break on the Honda, we made our purchases, then continued on our way. At the time I was using Google Maps for navigation. It navigated us right to a “shortcut” that was steep and winding. An RV had no business being on that road. I was stressed and terrified. We made it safely, though. I went to the office to register. I noticed a strong burning smell and wisps of smoke coming off the back tires. I had left the parking break on for close to 4 hours while driving. I was upset, and unsure where our spot was. I told my wife that I would scout on foot. When I found it she should follow. I eventually saw it and waved my arms. A loud crash, followed by numerous “oooh’s”. Lynda had turned too sharply and whacked the back end of the RV into trees. Our spot was tiny and difficult to back into. The park was packed, and plenty of drunken men were happy to offer advice as Lynda attempted to maneuver into the spot. After we finally parked, we both felt defeated, and I think each had a bottle of wine to ease our woes. On, the bright side, despite the 4K in repairs, the park emptied after the weekend, and we enjoyed the beautiful fall colors practically by ourselves.

Is Mitsubishi Outlander a good car worth buying (new 2017)?

Outlander is definitely the most under-rated but possibly the craziest best buy in a new or nearly new SUV. After a year of looking around I settled on a 7000 mile 2016 V6 GT in September 2017 for just… $25,0000 but the msrp on comparable 2015 was somewhere around $37,000. It has navigation, lane departure warning, radar cruise control, leather, heated seats, CD player, bluetooth, Sirius XM, power hatch, keyless entry. S-AWD is same system introduced on the Lancer Evo and will run AWD all the...

With so much electronics in our lives, such as games consoles, will evolution change mankind to adapt to this kind of thing?

Absolutely! I always went for the latest and greatest. I wanted steel belted radial tyres, rack and pinion steering, overhead cam engines, streamlined unitary cars, All the tech etc etc. I also wanted well built, reliable cars, I got tired of rebuilding them, then redesigning the mistakes. Then the Japs started building well built cars and motorbikes. Next they learnt how to design them well. For 30 years i have enjoyed brilliant, well designed, well built cars and motorbikes. Then, electronics started to overwhelm everything. The mechanicals would be fine, but the computer, ir one of the many, would malfunction, and be worth more than the vehicle to fix. Now I have evolved to NOT want the latest tech, but am sticking with what I now see as the classic, pre too much electronics era. I have a 2006 Honda CRV which has been faultless for 13 years and 130,000 kms, I have a 1997 Isuzu Diesel 4WD which has zero electronics, and looks like it will last forever, and I would rather have than a new one. I have recently acquired a 1982 Yamaha 750 motorbike that just needed a carb overhaul. I see a trend developing, keep the older cars, use the electronics, GPS, navigation, communications, entertainment in your cellphone, forget the big ticket new models and finance and loans. I would like to see HUD built into my contact lenses, for navigation, messages, etc
