It depends. If you spec a high end 4WD Tiguan, compare it to: BMW X1/X3 Audi Q3/Q5 Mercedes GLC Volvo XC60 Land Rover Discovery Range Rover Evoque Ford Edge Jeep Cherokee Renault Koleos If you spec a 2WD, 1.4ltr engine Tiguan: Seat Ateca Skoda Karoq / Kodiak Honda CR-V Mazda CX3/CX5 Hyundai Tucson Ford Kuga Kia Sportage Nissan Qashqai Toyota RAV4 Mitsubishi Outlander Renault Kadjar … There are so many mid sized SUV’s in this segment, it is incredible. I chose to buy a 4WD, 2.0ltr Tiguan because of it’s towing capacity. It is allowed to tow a 2500kg trailer. Of the cars in the list above, only the Audi Q5, Discovery and Cherokee can equal or surpass that. However, they then bigger engines and are much more expensive. The SUV’s on the second list do not have towing capacity that gets close to 2000kg. The Tiguan was also brand a brand new model, offering all the latest in high tech driving aids (including a full digital dashboard) and a very premium interior compared to most other SUV’s. So, it is dependant upon your budget, your key buying criteria, and, personal taste what will suit you.

Is it worth buying a Renault Captur at 15 lakhs?
With a huge success of Duster and Kwid Renault India decided to strengthen their portfolio in SUV market with a launch of Koleos and Captor. While Koleos ended up with big failure for Renault India they have come with an option for who are looking for upgrading from Duster to a bigger SUV. BUT RENAULT INDIA chooses a similar size of SUV for 14–16 lakhs price range where big SUVs like Scorpio,XUV, Hexa, Safari are competing. Ultimately Indian customers being a Size conscious they rejected Captor. Renault is in process of cleaning all dealer stock with huge discounts. Remember about Scala,Pulse and Fluence Think about the fate of their owners. Except Me If owners or he Renault customers are facing severe deprecation problems. What are a few products that used to be great, but now their product quality has deteriorated?
One such product that I can think of which exists in India is the Renault Duster. I am not saying that the Duster sold today is not a great product, it surely is an amazing one. Its just that the SUV has lost its charm over the years and the presence of many superior products in the segment has pretty much sidelined it. When the Duster was launched in 2012, the SUV culture here was not as big as it is today. In fact, SUV's were being ditched in favour of more powerful sedans that were a lot cheaper than them. All of that changed in 2012 with the arrival of the Duster. It was a rebadged version of the Dacia Duster, which was sold as a low-cost SUV around the world. On first instances, the Duster looked good, had a great set of features and more importantly it was priced on par with the premium sedans. Pepole flocked to Renault showrooms in order to purchase the car, with some of them even willing to pay a premium for the SUV. The Duster was responsible for creating the popular mid-size SUV segment. As of today, this segment is one which forms a big chunk of the market in terms of sales numbers. Above all, the introduction of the Duster almost put the premium sedan segment into extinction, with pepole preffering to buy an SUV at its cost. The Duster was Renault’s first mass market product in India and third overall. The brand entered the country with the largely forgotten duo of the Fluence premium sedan and Koleos premium SUV. Renault would never have imagined that the demand for the Duster will be this high. The automaker managed to sell more than one lakh units of the car in its first 18 months, which is a big achievement even today. Customers also loved the ruggedness and practicality of the Duster and recommended it highly to others. In almost no time, the Duster turned into a cash cow for Renault, with the brand planning to build their line-up around it. Fast forward to 2020 and the Duster is struggling and how! Renault barely manages to sell 1,000 units of the car per month and that is a sad return for a car loved by many. It is just that the Duster has largely remained unchanged barring a few additional features and cosmetic updates. What made sales of the Duster decline was the introduction of the Hyundai Creta to the Indian market in 2015. Before the Creta was launched, the Duster pretty much had a free run here. After it got launched, the Creta simply took off and sales were going strong every month. Renault realized that and introduced the facelifted Duster shortly to the market. Well it helped the brand in some ways by gaining some momentum. But Renault itself were pretty much concentrating on bringing its much-awaited budget hatchback, the Kwid back then. The Duster was sidelined a bit due to that and despite a marginal increase in sales, it could not pose much competition to the Creta. The Creta averaged sales of 6,000 units per month while the Duster on the other hand could just sell around 3,000 units back then. Renault constantly kept on updating the Duster by adding some features but that didn't help much. Renault did launch another facelift of the SUV last year, but that was sidelined by a few high profile launches that took place at around the same time. Thus, the Duster always remained the joker of the pack, which meant it was the jack of all trades but the master of none. It had a really strong engine and additional All Wheel Drive characteristics that made it stand out from the rest of the competition.
