I changed 2 number plate lights with LEDs, the warning light on dash says otherwise. I’ve been told I need a resistor in line, can anyone help?
You need a resistor in parallel (across the LEDs or across the plus and minus of the 12V feeding them) to draw the minimum current for the warning light detection circuit to turn off. LEDs don’t draw enough current to do that by themselves. Your old tungsten lamps did (draw enough current) so the simplest circuit to detect a blown light bulb was the lack of current to the light. Putting a “resistor in line” will only make matters worse as less current will flow continuing the warning light detection current loss and make your lights dim. The other issue is the resistor in parallel will have to handle a fair amount of power so it will get very hot (think about how hot the lamps get) and burn out quickly unless you put a high power resistor (think multiple watts) to sink the required current and turn off your dashboard warning light. I was lazy. I just put the regular tungsten lamps back in and was done with it. Good luck

None that I would advise using. Every ANPR equipped police car you drive past will sound an alarm and alert the police officer to pull you over and fine you for illegal number plates.

Three similar examples (first two from Wikipedia), including the original: The term 'cobra effect' stems from an ,anecdote, set at the time of ,British, rule of colonial ,India,. The British government was concerned about the number of ,venomous, ,cobra, ,snakes,. The government therefore offered a reward for every dead snake. Initially this was a successful strategy as large numbers of snakes were killed for the reward. Eventually, however, Indians began to breed cobras for the income. When this was realized the reward was cancelled, but the cobra breeders set the snakes free and the wild cobras consequently multiplied. The apparent solution for the problem made the situation even worse. A similar incident occurred in ,Hanoi, under French colonial rule. The colonial regime created a bounty program that paid a reward for each ,rat, killed. To obtain the bounty, people would provide the severed ,rat, tail. Colonial officials, however, began noticing rats in Hanoi with no tails. The Vietnamese rat catchers would capture rats, lop off their tails, and then release them back into the sewers so that they could procreate and produce more rats, thereby increasing the rat catchers' revenue. In Fort Benning, Georgia, a bounty was offered for pig tails, being a nuisance in the region. This led to people 'bounty hunters' feeding the existing population of pigs, therefore increasing their numbers. Net result: lots of pigs were killed, even more were born. Both in Mexico City and in Bogota, there was a policy measure that tried to reduce traffic by allowing car owners only to drive their car a couple of days a week. This was checked using the final one or 2 license plate numbers (so for example, on Monday, no cars were allowed with license plate numbers ending with 1 to 4). The result was that people who had to drive each day, started buying more than one car, and working couples even bought up to 4 cars in order to be able to drive each day. These were old cars, so the net effect was more congestion, more pollution.
What really happened in Memento?
1. Leonard Shelby is a San Francisco insurance investigator, living with his wife Catherine. In the course of his job, he is called to investigate Sammy Jankis, a man who claims to have developed anterograde amnesia after a car accident. He exposes Jankis as a fraud, although he feels guilty because his harsh verdict is motivated partly by wanting a promotion, which he does receive. Note though that Sammy was, in fact, a fraud, and also single (no wife in the picture). 2. One night Leonard wakes up to find his wife's side of the bed empty. He follows a noise coming from the bathroom, and bursts in to find an intruder raping his wife who's wrapped in a shower curtain. He attacks and kills the man, but the man's partner knocks him out from behind and escapes. Leonard's wife survives the assault, but Leonard develops actual anterograde amnesia as a result of the hit to his head. Leonard's wife, a diabetic, attempts to trigger Leonard's memory by having him administer her shots repeatedly, but it doesn't work and the overdose kills her. 3. Leonard, feeling vengeful over her wife's and his own fate, tries to get the police to track down the 2nd attacker. However, because he had left no signs and the only witness is an amnesiac, police now believes that there was only one attacker in the first place. A dodgy cop, John Edward Gammell (aka "Teddy") who was assigned to the wife's case sympathizes with his plight, and helps him search for the missing criminal. He gives him the police files on the case, which Leonard uses to create his "folder" that he carries around, and he has the major clues tattooed on his own body. After a long investigation they do actually find the man, and Leonard murders him. 4. However, things become more complicated. Even though he has fulfilled his vengeance, Leonard does not remember it. According to Teddy, he feels his life has lost its purpose so strongly at this point that he removes the 12 pages from his files that led him to the original John G., making the puzzle forever unsolvable for himself for the sake of giving himself a reason to keep on living, turning himself into a loose cannon. Additionally, using a method he had learned from the Sammy Jankis case, he begins to falsify his own memories through conditioning. He hires prostitutes to play the role of his wife which blend with his old memories about her to erase the fact that his wife was diabetic - presumably to relieve himself of the guilt of causing his wife's death by mistake. These parts of the truth become memories of Sammy, and Sammy's wife (who never actually existed). Teddy sees this as an opportunity for himself too, and sets Leonard on the trail of Jimmy Grantz, a local drug dealer. Teddy's plan is that Leonard will kill the guy, and he, Teddy, will then get to keep the guy's money. Unfortunately, a remark about Sammy reveals it to Leonard that Grantz could not have been the real John G., the man he pursues. He confronts Teddy who tells him the truth. Furious that Teddy was using him, he decides to trick himself into thinking that Teddy is the real John G. He drives to a tattoo parlor and has Teddy's license plate number tattooed on himself. (This is where the rest of the movie picks up.) 5. Having already forgotten what he was doing, Leonard finds a note left for Grantz by his girlfriend who works at Ferdy's Bar. Not realizing that the note, the car and the clothes all belonged to Grantz and not him, he drives to the bar to meet Natalie, the aforementioned gf. Natalie realizes that something must've happened to Grantz but Leonard does not remember anything, so she leaves him at her house and goes to meet Dodd, one of Grantz's associates, who tells her that Grantz is dead but also suspects her of having his missing money (which is actually in Leonard's car). She realizes that Leonard killed Grantz, but she also has to worry about Dodd, so she fakes an injury and sends Leonard after Dodd, promising him information in exchange. Leonard successfully intimidates Dodd and forces him to leave town. In return, Natalie tracks down the license plate number he has and gives him Teddy's name (though she does not realize Teddy's role). There is also a hint that memories of Natalie are going to blend into Leonard's memories of his wife, as did the ones about the other girls before. Leonard brings Teddy to the abandoned warehouse where he had killed Grantz before, and though Teddy attempts to direct him to the cellar where Grantz's body is hidden, he is killed. Does Leonard then go to the cellar and realize that he has killed the wrong man twice? Or does he continue his endless quest for vengeance? We never learn anything beyond this, other than that he has rid himself of Teddy's influence, for better or worse.
What are some examples of bad design?
Modern Buses,. Especially the local buses within the city, they are bad designs. No, not for me… I am talking about the people who are visually disabled. They find it really hard to recognize the correct bus they want to hop-in. Hard to believe? try to find out your bus at any bus stand with eyes closed - once at least. You would then realize their pain. These visually impaired people can not read the route number displayed on the fancy LED plates. They are totally dependent on someone for help for this basic thing. I feel that they should work on this, seriously.
Why are citizens not allowed to look up someone's license plate number? Shouldn't that be a public record as well?
You mean “Why can’t I find someone’s home address by looking up their license plate number?” Okay, let me put forth a few scenarios and you tell me if you think it should be possible… You tried your best to be polite but someone took offense at the way you drove and thinks you were extremely discourteous. They look up your license plate to find your home address with the intention of ‘paying you a personal visit’ later that night. You’re out of town or out of state for a vacation, someone looks up your license plate and sees that there is No Way you’ll be home later that night. They decide that maybe whatever you have in your house might look better in theirs. You come out of a big box store wheeling out a mega-inch LED TV with all the trimmings, a major purchase. Someone sees you load it into your car and makes a note of the license plate with, you guessed it, looking up your home address so that they can relieve you of the burden of having to own such a nice system. Still think it’s a good idea to allow just anybody access to a database that cross references your license plate numbers with your home address?

Group Planning Exercise(GPE) is a test of your Problem solving ability and ability to convey your ideas clearly to your group in order arrive at a workable group solution. Most candidates participate very well in this task. But what all needs here is the contribution of the candidate not just a mere participation. let’s understand this Wonderful and exciting task with an example. You are 8 friends from Ranikhet went to Kalnu hills for expedition. You are staying in a small lodge at Malroad market. You have a return train at 7.00 pm leaving for Ranikhet from Sahibabad station. You were taking a stroll in the market when a person comes running to you and tells you there is a landslide have occurred in Kalnu hills and many people get trapped in the landslide. He also tells you that the fish plate of the train track has been removed near Sahibabad station because of poor maintenance. A train passes the track at 6.30pm. In the meanwhile another person tells you that an accident occurred on Ratnagar highway which led few people injured. There is a hospital and a NDRF team in Chaubatia village. Carts are available at Jhakra village. It is 5:00 pm already. As being young and brave, what you will do. Well, there can be many workable solutions to those problems. The way which i approached in my SSB interview when I was recommended is as follows: SOLUTION: PROBLEMS: Saving land slide victims at Kalnu Hills. Saving Ratnanagar highway accident victims. Restoring the fish plates. NUMBER OF MEMBERS AVAILABLE:8 TIME NOW:5 PM TIME NEEDED FOR DISCUSSION AND PLANNING: 10 MINUTES TIME NOW: 5:10 PM NUMBER OF TEAMS: 3 TEAMS All the three teams will despatch at 5:10 pm to address their respective tasks. PROBLEM 1: To save the land slide victims. Number of men deployed: 4 Solution: First of all, they will call the NDRF and hospital from a PCO/MOBILE from Mall Road and inform about the incident. They will hire a taxi and reach Kalnu Hills. They also take digging equipments,ropes and first aid items with them. Will start rescue operation and in the mean while the NDRF reaches and assist them Distance: 3 kms. Speed of taxi:60kmph. Time: 5–10 Min. Time Now:5:10 pm Time of reaching the spot: 5:20 pm. PROBLEM 2: To save the Ratnanagar road accident victims. Number of men deployed,:2 Solution:Will hire another taxi and reach the accident spot. First aid the victims and take them to the hospital. Distance: 5+5kms. Speed of men:60kmph. Time: 5–10 Min. Time Now:5:10 pm Time of reaching the spot: 5:20 pm. Time for first aid: 10 min. Number of men deployed,:2 Solution:The 2 members will board the same taxi hired for problem 2 and get down at railway track crossing. Reach the railway station and inform the officials. With the help of railway officials and labours reach the spot and ensures restoring of the fish plates. Approximate time needed: 50 min. Time of finishing the task:6pm. after this all 8 members mall road at 6:15 pm, pack their luggage and reach the railway station to catch their train at 7pm. This is the rough draft of GPE solution. After this the GTO will collect the response sheets and ask the group to discuss and arrive at a workable group solution. TIPS FOR APPROACHING GPE AND ITS GROUP DISCUSSION: Read the GPE sheet carefully and thoroughly. While reading make a note of minute details like time,distance,location and resources available etc. For example in the above gpe we have to be careful about the timings of the train that will pass through the Shaidabad Railway station i.e. 6:30pm and plan our operation accordingly. Effective usage of time and resources. Like informing NDRF and hospital about the landslide strategy. We shouldn’t pass our responsibility to the other people/agencies(like Police, strangers, hospital, NDRF etc). Instead we have to take their help in completing the tasks. While discussing in group put your valid points that you have written in your gpe sheet and support your point with a valid reason. Don’t say points such as “ I agree with you” , “ Time is running up” , “ let’s cooperate” , “ chest no.5 hasn’t spoken”. If your points are logical and workable then your group will itself ask you to narrate the group solution. Cooperate with your group members. Always go with majority decision and don’t fight with group members.

Not in the USA. Most , if not all states reserve this to the judiciary, the police or a legal need for the information. This came about through the stalking of at least two Hollywood actresses. One was severely injured and the other was killed. This led to laws that prohibits every day citizens from getting addresses or plate numbers, just by going to the DMV.
