BMW Malaysia has just launched the 2023 BMW M2 at the ongoing M4NTAP Festival in Sepang International Circuit, marking the introduction of yet another sporty model in the brand's line-up here.

Prices for the BMW M2 in Malaysia are as follows. Note that its inclusive of the BMW extended warranty and service package:

• M2: RM 598,800
• M2 with Pro Package: RM 642,800

It made its Malaysian debut alongside the new range topper of the BMW iX (Specs | News) battery electric vehicle (BEV) range, the iX M60.

BMW M2 specs in Malaysia

Lithe, aggressive, and compact, the M2 coupe stays true to the classic two-door sports car recipe. Fittingly also it sticks with the rear-wheel drive (RWD) formula as well, with 460 PS/550 Nm alighting the rear wheels via the S58 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder mill.

0-100 km/h is sorted in just 4.1 seconds as it climbs to a top speed of 250 km/h. Adding on the optional M Driver's Package boosts the latter to 285 km/h, and even if you miss specifying it the first time around, it can be retrofitted at authorised BMW dealers later on.

Handling transmission duties is the ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox, while driving powress comes from Adaptive M Suspension, Active M Differential, and the M Drive Professional system that's standard on every M2 here.

Suspension at the front end is held up by double-joint spring strut front axle and the wishbones are now made of aluminium. At the rear, it’s a five-link.

Adaptive LED headlights with high-beam assistant, as well as blue brake calipers hiding behind Style M light alloy wheels in 930 M bicolour design are standard fitments, though opting for the Pro Package nets buyers with the M Compound Brake with red calipers, alongside Style 930 M wheels in black.

Complementing all that is the M high-gloss Shadowline package (basically black details), though Pro Package owners get a little extra by way of the M Carbon Roof and M Lights Shadowline.

Exterior colour offerings for the two BMW M2 variants are Zandvoort Blue, Alpine White, Brooklyn Grey, Black Sapphire and Toronto Red, while interior upholstery is available in Leather Vernasca in Black with exclusive highlight, Leather Vernasca in Black with Blue contrast stitching and Leather Vernasca in Cognac with décor stitching.

As standard, the BMW M2 features fully electric M Sport seats with specific side bolsters, with illuminated M logos etched on the front seat headrests. 

Other standard sporting complements are the M leather steering wheel with shift paddles and red M Mode buttons, M Anthracite headliner, and Aluminium Rhombicle Anthracite M interior trim.

Exclusive for models with the Pro Package are M seat belts and carbonfibre M Interior Trim.

Live Cockpit Professional - a two-screen setup, with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 14.9 inch infotainment display - is standard fare, coupled with BMW OS 8 and the latest BMW M iDrive software. Harman Kardon supplies the tunes for the Pro Package car; a standard loudspeaker complement is for the standard M2.

The M2 also comes with Driving Assistant suite of ADAS, alongside Parking Assistant.
