Earlier today, we nipped down to Honda Ban Lee Heng Seremban to witness Malaysia's first public preview of the upcoming 2023Honda WR-V, and to share a little bit more of what we'll be getting.
No photos of the actual car are allowed in the meantime, so we'll be using the Thailand-market car to illustrate.
Per the usual Honda nomenclature four variants will be on offer: S, E, V, and the range-topping RS. All models will be powered by the same 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder mill (no hybrid variant has been confirmed as yet), pushing out 121 PS and 145 Nm, with power routed to the front wheels via a CVT-automatic.
We saw the RS variant, and its features are as below:
Honda Sensing ADAS suite
LED headlights with sequential turn signals
17-inch dual-tone wheels, Continental UC6 tyres
8-inch infotainment with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay
Paddle shifters
Analogue gauges with 4.2-inch multi-info display (MID)
Leather seats with red details
Flat-folding rear seats (with armrest)
Full-size spare tyre

Observations at the dealer showed that the influx of people was steady โ despite it being in the middle of a workday. We understand that approximately 120 visitors were at the BLH showroom at various times of the day, about double the daily figures when the 2023 Honda HR-V was previewed in a similar fashion last year.
The weekend will inevitably bring about a rush of crowds, so be sure to note visiting the visiting hours of the showroom near you (Ban Lee Heng's preview session goes from 10 am to 6 pm, for instance).
Bookings for the model have been open since earlier this week, and the WR-V's nationwide tour will see it reach the Southern, Northern, Central, and East Coast parts of the country from 16-June to 9-July 2023.
