Following launches in Thailand and Indonesia, the all-new 2023 Honda CR-V will soon be heading to the Pearl of the Orient, Philippines, ahead of Malaysia.
Honda Cars Philippines has announced the 2023 CR-V will launch on 13-September 2023, in three variants at the following prices:
The 2024 CR-V will also be the first Honda model to offer the e:HEV 2-motor full-hybrid powerplant in the Philippines.
Prices see a significant rise over the current fifth-generation model, which start at PHP 1.763 million (~RM 144k) for the 2.0L S CVT to PHP 2.29 million (~RM 187k) for SX Diesel 9AT AWD Sensing variant. Note, however, that the CR-V is offered exclusively as 7-seater in the Phllipines.
The all-new CR-V will also be the first model in the Philippines to be equipped with Honda Connect. Separately, all variants of the All-new Honda CR-V will also feature the latest generation of Honda Sensing ADAS suite as standard.
The new prices command a premium of between 13 β 21 percent due to the discontinuation of the naturally-aspirated 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated and 1.6-litre turbodiesel engines in favour newer powerplants. However, price increases in Philippines remain far less than in Indonesia, where the starting price is now up by a shocking 40 percent!
Closer to home, several recent sightings of the 2023 Honda CR-V testing on Malaysian roads suggest that the launch isnβt too far away. However, a similar price hike should also be expected over the current selling prices once the new model goes on sale in Malaysia.
Additionally, given the 2023 CR-V is offered as standard with the Honda Sensing ADAS suite in Thailand, Indonesia and Philippines, this could also contribute to higher prices if Sensing is included as standard over here.
That said, despite news of the upcoming model, the outgoing fifth generation continues to track well in the Malaysian market, even outselling the newer Proton X70 in August 2023.
The current Honda CR-V is offered in four variants at following prices:
Arvind can't remember a time when he didn't wheel around a HotWheels car. This love evolved into an interest in Tamiya and RC cars and finally the real deal 1:1 scale stuff. Passion finally lead to formal training in Mechanical Engineering. Instead of the bigger picture, he obsesses with the final drive ratio and spring rates of cars and spends the weekends wondering why a Perodua Myvi is so fast.
