Bookings are open for the Aston Martin DBX: From RM 798,000 before tax

Aston Martin has officially joined the ranks of sport car manufacturers with an SUV in their stable with the launch of the Aston Martin DBX.

The 2020 Aston Martin DBX is the company’s first SUV in its 106-year history and the fourth car launched under their transformational Second Century Plan.

No doubt, the DBX is Aston’s most practical car measuring at 5,039 mm long, 1,680 mm high and 2,220 mm wide with a boot space capacity of 832-litres. It’s got a ground clearance of 190 mm so a wading depth of 500 mm is allowed.

Resembling a Vantage on stilts, the DBX presents an angry presence with an inverted grille that gave the car the permanently frowning impression. The side’s muscular profile transitions into a pointy aero tail and a rear end that gives in to a diffuser for better aerodynamic purposes.

On the inside, you get a 10.25 inch infotainment system head unit and a 12.3 inch digital instrument cluster for the driver. Apple Carplay comes as standard just like the 360 degree camera system.

The DBX gets a mix of full grain Caithness leather for the consoles and rear seats that splits 40:20:40 while Alcantara wraps the full-length glass panoramic sunroof.

But of course, things are subject to change as Aston offers the chance to customise the car to your preference, especially the first 500 DBX owners. Word is that the first 500 DBX will also be personally inspected by the CEO of Aston Martin, Andy Palmer himself.

But the exciting part is the 4.0-litre V8 heart - taken from the DB11 and Vantage - that powers the DBX, producing 550 PS and 700 Nm. This gives the DBX the ability to make that century sprint in just 4.5 seconds and to a maximum speed of 291 kmh.

The V8 engine transfers power via a 9-speed automatic to the SUV’s all-wheel-drive system with an active independent double wishbone on the front and multi-links in the rear.

The 2020 Aston Martin DBX is available for booking in Malaysia at the price of RM 798,000 with the first delivery expected in Q2 2020. The DBX is set to continue the success of SUVs like the Cayenne to become Aston Martin’s best selling model!
