You might feel like the all-new 2022 Honda HR-V has already been launched here based on the amount of news, photos and posts invading your social media feeds but that’s not the case as the official launch of the most anticipated model in Malaysia this year is actually happening this week.
There’s really not much else apart from the pricing as bookings have been open. In fact, a few previews were already made at selected dealers that saw potential customers lining up around the block for a peek at the compact SUV.
Following that, a few units were already spotted on car transporters nationwide being delivered to dealers as the social media sleuths caught the HR-V uncovered and circulated the photos online.
As the flagship of the range, the HR-V RS e:HEV; to call it by its full name, is powered by a 1.5-litre i-MMD petrol-electric hybrid engine (131 PS / 253 Nm) that is also found in the Honda City RS and City Hatchback RS.
Positioned below the hybrid will be a choice of two 1.5-litre petrol powerplants; a naturally-aspirated unit that makes 121 PS / 145 Nm or a turbocharged one that produces 177 PS / 240 Nm.
It goes without saying that with all the new features and improved powertrains, the new HR-V will be pricier. Its predecessor was priced between RM 104,000 to RM 118,854 and the consensus is that this new version will see its price bumped up by around 5 - 10 percent.
“Better late than never.” Some despise it, others begrudgingly agree with it but he swears by it… much to the chagrin of everyone around him. That unfortunately stems from all of his project cars not running most of the time, which in turn is testament to his questionable decision-making skills in life. A culmination of many wrongs fortunately making a right; much like his project cars on the rare occasions they run, he’s still trying to figure out if another project car is the way to go.
